I tried installing an MAF enhancer to compliment an HHO generator I had installed.
I am having difficulty determining the correct signal wire. I tapped into the wrong one, and now I have error codes. ARS, Engine, and sometimes a blinking Glow Plug.
Coming out of the MAF sensor are 4 wires. Black, Green, Red, and a larger yellow wire. I tapped into the yellow and tested. Oops, wrong wire - what a dope.
The red wire gives a solid 2.1 volts, the green will fluctuate between .1 and .6 (This may be the right one). However there is no voltage on the black, the yellow will give a quick reading then just drop to zero, but niether black or yellow seem to work as a ground when tested with the red or the green. However, the green wire does a fine job working with the red. Also I noticed that when you test the red with the engine running it revs the engine up a little. Thats wierd.
Current symptoms: Engine runs louder and with less power. I don't know if I just ruined the ECU or the Turbo. But my guess is that the turbo is out.
What now?

thanks

The green is the signal wire, black is what we call the ground reference, 2.1 volt wire is reference voltage, but that is very low, shout be around 4.5 volts, you need to verify that voltage with the MAF disconnected check between the ground and red.
The big yellow wire is your current feed. the black is your ground, the red is the send signal and the green is the return signal this should help. if you did spike the ecm then you might have just blown the 5amp fuse for it. i would check all your relay/fuses to make sure they are good as well. please rate this solution..thanks keep me posted
Yes the turbo is out.you r right.but try removing and reconnecting the wires as u have connected properly as stated.
What does your MAF consist of ?
what did you get for instrusction?
is it just a resistor?
what are your troublecodes?
does the engine run fine without the enhancer installed?
doubble check you air intake hoses make sure you not leaking any turbo boost.
when you say loud. what kind of luod sound? like pressurized air?
It would be nice if you could let us know how your hho conversion does. all science is negitive on this working . yes your gas or diesel engine can run on hydrogen but However, what you can't do is run a car on water without energy inputs greater
than you get from splitting the water. In simple terms, let's say you split
water to create 10 BTUs of hydrogen. You can then use that to burn in the car,
or to operate a fuel cell. When you burn the hydrogen, it reacts with oxygen to
again form water. But if you want to take the water and turn it back into
hydrogen, it will always take more than the 10 BTUs that you released in the
first place.
So let's say it takes 12 BTUs of input to produce 10 BTUs
of hydrogen from water. What's wrong with that? Well, why wouldn't you just use
those 12 BTUs directly, instead of going through the step of cracking the water?
This would be sort of like using gasoline in your car to produce steam to drive
a steam engine that actually runs the car. But it's a lot more efficient to cut
out the middleman and use the gasoline directly.
i havent seen it work yet. i seen alot of claims but no proof.
and everyone that has had proof have been discredited.

MAF sensor located right at the air filter compartment. Wire plug consists of the 4 wires, black, Green, Red and a larger yellow.
After disconecting the enhancer the car still runs quite loud.
I have not gone to auto zone yet to download the codes. But tht lights coming on are the ARS (which is a circle with a triangle inside and an ! inside the triangle), engine, and the glow plug light is flashing.
yes the enhancer is just a resistor.
Is there a way for me to reset the ECU/ECM?
I have disconnected the enhancer and repaired the wired I tapped into, so everything should be as it was. I also disconnected the negative battery cable for about 30 minutes.
Still the same. loud and less power.
Your advice on the fuse was right on. There was a 10 amp fuse blown. Replaced. Now car runs normal and all lights are out - except for the engine light. I will check other fuses and relays tomorrow in daylight.
One question. The red is the send signal so that it the wire I need to add the resistor to. But why is there a return signal? I also found out today that the car does have and oxygen sensor. Do you think and extender ring will aid in better gas mileage? Thanks for the help.
when I loosen the red wire on the 4 terminals on top of the battery it seams the fan cuts in but when I tighten it up no wipers, head lights, heater motor,
don't know what the problem is. i DID REPLACE THE RED WIRE THE OLD ONE HAD A BURN MARK
