Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward all the way just before cranking. Then within 5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the valet/overide button, found under the dash area, (push button, spring loaded) until the installed LED (the blinking light) in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once.(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type. in this case, key on, flip switch in opposite direction, then turn the key off.) This should reset the alarm, and reset the grounded relay on the starter wire, allowing you to start the engine. At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm, if it came equipped that way.Just Repeat these steps to place it back to usable armed mode. You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,and the lights may flash twice as well.Wish it was going to be that easy for you,but I am leaning towards a passlock issue here.

Best I can do for ya at this point.

Good luck

A. GM will probably run around 70.00 for a service/reset.

2006 Chevy Cobalt SS. How to get past the antitheft system on it please.

A nice simple answer, you can't. Think of it this way, the car doesn't know you are the owner, and it is there to stop exactly what you are trying to do. You have two computer ECM and BCM, plus the antitheft module and a number of sensors all trying to stop you. All you have to do is the re-learn procedure. Plan B is an auto electrician or alarm / radio installer or auto locksmith.

30 Minute Re-Learn Procedure
  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds .

2009 chevy traverse wont start after hooking amp up car was fine

OK. you had the battery disconnected. Here is what you do. Turn on the key. The security light will begin to flash. Wait (about 10 minutes) with the key in the ON position. The security light will stop flashing. TURN OFF the key. Then, turn on the key and start the car. Security system is supposed to prevent theft for a 10 minute delay. This usually discourages any thief. This will work, You just need to be patient with the 10 minutes. It seems like an hour when you wait ten minutes for that security light to stop flashing.

The car im talking about is agrand am se 2000 v-6 3.4 motor, fuelpump comes on and it cranks up ,but want stay running, what could it be ?

Anti-theft system , is the security light lit on the instrument cluster ?

The vehicle theft deterrent system is designed in order to prevent vehicle theft by disabling the fuel injectors unless the lock cylinder is correctly engaged by a mechanical key. The theft deterrent system uses the following 4 components for theft prevention:
• The lock cylinder
• The ignition switch
• The body control module (BCM)
• The powertrain control module (PCM)
When starting the engine, the PCM searches for a password from the BCM through the Class 2 serial data circuit. If the password is not recognized or not present, the PCM will disable the engine. Two modes of tamper detection are provided:
No password received
The engine will start and stall quickly. SECURITY telltale will flash on the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and then stay ON steady.
Incorrect or disable password received (More than 3 invalid passwords are received)
The engine is disabled for at least 10 minutes and the SECURITY telltale will illuminate solid on the IPC during the 10 minutes.
After the vehicle has passed theft detection, the PCM will continue normal operation.
Auto Learn
Time required, approximately 10 minutes.
Insure that the battery is fully charged.
Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
Turn the ignition switch from the OFF position to the CRANK position attempting to start the vehicle. The vehicle will start and then stall.
Leave the ignition switch in the ON position while observing the security indicator.
When the security indicator turns off, which can take up to 10 minutes, turn the ignition switch off. Wait 10 seconds.
The BCM and the PCM will learn the new code on the next start attempt.

I have had the same problem. This has happened to me three times in the past nine months or so. Per the owner's manual, you turn the key to the on position and wait about ten minutes. This resets the system and when the "Theft System" light goes out, it starts right up. I did this each time and it started right up.

How to rekey a pontiac sunfire 2004

Im assuming you are refering to the anti theft security key relearn process.

1. Perform a security system relearn.
2. Let the vehicle sit for more than 10 minutes with the key off.
3. Attempt to start the engine, leave the key in the run position monitoring the security system indicator.
4. After 10 minutes, the security indicator will change state.
5. Turn the key off and wait 10 seconds.
6. Attempt to start the engine. If the engine stalls, wait another 10 minutes with the key on.
7. After the second 10 minute timer has expired, turn the key off for 10 seconds.
8. Attempt to start the engine. If the engine stalls, wait another 10 minutes with the key on.
9. After the 3rd 10 minute timer has expired, shut the key off for 10 seconds.
10. The security system will relearn on the 4th starting attempt and the engine should start and run.

Alot of the time on GM vehicles, a "no start" situation can be tracked back to the anti theft security system. A common symptom is the infamous "wait 10 minutes" and it will start trick. Read this link carefully and compare your symptoms. Try all the tricks and look for an icon that says "security"when this happens again. If you see this icon light up. Then this is 100% the problem. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
