Most likely is your blend door is faulty (bad motor/broken tab?).
Defrost is the idle possition ( as it is the most important).
You may have a disconnected vacuum hose from the climate controle panel if you recently (ever?) had work done in the dash area...
But my suspicion is the blend door motor...
where might I look for vacuum leaks and the blend door?
The blend door is located in the plenum (Black plastic ducting) behind the glovebox , and the motor sits atop it .
Vacuum leaks can be detected by running the vehicle in an OUTDOOR area and laying on the floor board and listening for a tell tale 'squeel' of sucking air pulling thru a small hose.
You may wish to concentrate the inspection in the central dash area , as that is where the climate control Vacuum circuit is centralised.
I suggest someone dislodged a vacuum hose from the climate control panel... but I dont know what was done between fully functioning and broke modes....
