Completely separated systems: the cool comes from an evaporator powered by the compressor, the heat from a radiator from the cooling fluid heated by the engine. If you don't have heat then either the radiator / heater or the controlling valve are clogged or respectively blocked shut. Try to clean them by running a radiator cleaning solution. If that fails the dash will have to be removed to access the heater to remove it and valve for a thorough cleaning and/or replacement.

    what about the blend door?

  • Azrael SRL Oct 01, 2011

yes, it could cause that, but it's very rare occurrence in your model

Sorry Azreal but it is a very common problem in 1997 and 98 Lincoln Mark Viii's, the controler is made of cheap plastic that rarely last very long

It will cost you around $600 to $900 to have a mechanic change a blend door (6-8 hours job)!
What I did was lower the glove compartment and reach in on the left side of the glove compartment and you should feel a level, move the level towards you and you now have heat! NO COST!!!
Stay warm my friend!!!!

1994 Lincoln mark 8 Chnged alternater n it said to plug n memory before you unplug the battery n alternater now my ac isnt really cold n only blows out top vents

You might want to try turning the climate control temp settings all the way down. Then turn the system OFF. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and let the car sit for 5 to 10 minutes. When time is up reconnect the battery and then start the car. Turn on the Heat/AC and adjust the temp setting.

Sometimes this works on cars with computer controlled climate control systems.

Good luck.

Does anyone hav an emissions diagram for a mark viii

I don't have one myself but you might want to try Lincoln direct. It could be something that they would give to you free or at low cost since it involves emissions.

No heat,1997 lincoln mark 8.self test dtc code 155.all funcitons but no heat.whats a guy to do?

You have a stuck air temperature control blend door problem. The blend door is what moves to divert air across the heater core and AC core to heat or coll the air or a combination of the hot and cold air streams, to blend them. To replace the part requires that the dash be removed from car as the door is located in the production.

Lincoln mark 8, a/c was working, then kept starting and stopping now dead, compressor works, fan wont blow, even on vent or heat....where is the fuse/relay for this or what else could it be?

It is the blower motor,or the blower relay module, near the blower motor, and check the ac/heat control unit,if the blower ,and relay module turn out to be good.
