hi, the problem you are having sounds like the exhaust hasnt been ligned up properly when it has been fitted.
Or it could even be that the rubbers the exhaust rests on could be worn and need replacing.
If you hold the end of your exhaust at the back of the car give it a shake and see how tight it is, their should only be slight left to right movement if their is alot of movement then get the rubbers looked at. If their is only slight movement then the chances are the exhaust has not been lined up properly when it was fitted.
If your car had no problem before then the chances are it is the exhaust so i would check its ligned up and also check all the exhaust mounts are in place and that the rubber clamps holding the exhaust to the car are not worn as to much wear can cause the exhaust to vibrate.
One other thing to look at is the heat shield just above the exhaust if this has been bent then this could be touching your exhaust slightly causing the vibration this can be bent back so it is not touching the exhaust.
Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

I had a similar problem with my 1994 S420.
Before taking it to the shop check the following:
Distributor covers, Rotors and Spark Plugs. That's what my car needed. Before I did it two "specialized" MB mechanics wanted to replace the engine wiring harness ($1,000.00) and the other wanted to replace Air mass sensor, throttle valve actuator ($2,000.00) I hope that's all you need.

Do notice that the cut out happens as you brake? Have you had an ABS warning light on the dash? If so it could be that you have blown the fuse in the Over Voltage Protection relay, Its location varies but try looking behind the battery> If there black box about 2cm x 2cm in plan and 6cm high that is likely to be it. The box should lift straight up to reveal a clear plastic lid over the fuse (10amp bayonet type - red). Change it if blown. The car should sort itself out in a matter of seconds.

i think the problem is in the fuel line. i have encounter it too.. the best way is to replace all fuel filter. muzzo have 3 fuel filter. 2 located at the engine and the other one located at the fuel tank they called it as strainer. u can see the opening of the tank underneath the back seat of the car. also good suggestion clean the tank. duel dirt is the main cause of your problem cause muzzo have only a small tip that why only little dirt can cause plunging in engine. sory for bad English
