My 1985 mazda glc is lurching and cutting out. it will drive fine,then all of a sudden, usually when i am going up a hill, but not always, it will act like it is running out of gas on and off.
it will run rough at low speeds, less than 35mph but will cut out if i accelerate faster than that.

Timing belts are replacement only usually after every 150 thou kms or so. They are best left to your mechanic or a friend that really knows what they are doing! Incorrectly done they can turn your engine into scrap in less than a second. Good Luck
I believe the red are switched ignition wires and the yellow is a constant hot wire. Cap and tape them separate from each other and you shouldn't have a problem.
