Chances are your engine light is on too. Your actually in 2nd right now, this is called limp mode. It's built into your cars computer to avoid catastrophic failure when a sensor or other issue arrises. You should go imediately to your dealer and have them read the codes and provide you with a proper estimate. My best guess at this time would be a speed sensor.

SOURCE: #5 cylinder misfire

I have a corolla and had #4 cylinder misfire also diagnosed at autozone. After changing the spark plugs, problem persisted, along with the same error code, so they recommended changing the spark plug wires, and that is what fixed it. I would have changed the rotor cap too, but was low on dough. Glad that was not the problem.

93 mazda mx3 was running cut off and won't start

You might check the coil. If there's no spark it has gone bad (around $100.00 at Auto parts stores, if you replace it yourself.) That's the easier one to fix. The other is the distributor. They also go bad, and cause the same problem.

Hello I have a 1993 Mazda mx3 gs 1.8L. For the life of me I can not find a serpatine belt diagram for this car. Please HELP???

your best bet is to purchase service manual from Autozone, Advance, auto parts stores. They handle Haynes & Clymers manuals (they run about $10) or Amazon, Barnes & Noble. I checked online and you're right it's a mystery why the Mazda forums lack that info...

I think someone has misled you. Even if you were able to get it to work by tapping it, you can be sure the problem is going to come back. You need to have that starter tested if you think it is the problem.

Mazda mx3 clicking when cold

This is because the oil hasn't circulated in the HLA (hydrolic lash adjusters) that is ontop of the valves/springs under the cam. Once they are full with oil, the clicking stops and they opperate properly! Try running a thicker oil, other than that it's not a big problem unless the ticking is very loud or doesn't stop after it's warm.

How do you fill the transmission fluid on a manual 1993 mazda mx3 v6

the transmission dip is located under the hood and with a funnel you put the transmission fluid in and remember to keep checking while the engine is running warm because it does tend to expand and you want to make sure you're right on the line when you see the red fluid on the stick.

Car won't start. Possibly fuel pump related.

Check the engine codes. That will give you clue where to begin repairs. See if youhave a spark on the plugs also.

Idiling

here is what you need to do, a cleaning of the intake throttle blade and the idle speed control air-bypass valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours,
Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake
