Had this happen to me on an 03 Aero SS. It spent a few weeks jumping up and down until eventually it stopped working altogether. In the interest of saving money I dropped the tank and cleaned the level sender and resoldered the wires. Put it back together and no difference. Tank had to come down AGAIN and I replaced the whole pump and sender unit. Works fine now. I'd recommend just replacing the lot as it's not a quick job getting it out.

You will need to replace the sending unit, that is really the only thing that will cause this issue

Have a problem with gas gauge on a 2004 Chevy SSR

fuel gage sender unit-undefined-undefined-0.jpg You could use two resistors, Two different ohms specs for full and empty. Place resistor between proper wire colors in diagram. Turn on the key, If gage reacts properly to full and empty resistors, then I think the problem is the sending unit in gas tank. If not, the problem could be almost anywhere, wiring circuit--pcm--instrument cluster. I did see trouble codes relating to fuel gage sending unit. I hesitate to get into that? good luck

2008 jaguar s series gas gage quit working

probably not all that difficult to fix it you have patience. The needle going way past full is an indication of a short before the sender unit or in the sender unit. Pull the power wire from the sender unit and see what the gauge does. IT should stay on the empty mark. IT may be just a fuel sender unit .

these are sealed units and can't be fixed only replaced.it may also be the float in your gas tank that is jammed and telling your gauge it's full

The gas gauge for the front tank on my 1992 F150 is stuck past full

You probably have a ground wire not making contact to ground on the front tank sending unit. OR the sending unit itself inside the tank is faulty. Either way, when a gas guage goes to full all the time (empty or full), this indicates that NO ground is available for the sending unit.

The gas gauge for the front tank on my 1992 F150 is stuck past full

replace front fuel pump because gauge is made into fuel pump and not serviceable. Or poor boy way of getting by would be fill front tank with gas reset mileage drive normal for a day. refill again with gas note gallons used and mileage driven for average miles per gallon. front tank should be around 17 gallons multiply by mile per gallon you figured

Fuel Gauge wont move past 3/4 tank even with full tank

There is no easy fix.
Either the gauge on the dash is faulty, or the sending unit in the tank.
The sending unit uses a float which may be getting stuck at the 3/4 mark.

Gas gauge stuck past full when truck is on

Trace the wiring from the fuel tank back to the instrument cluster - you have a short grounding out some place. When the sending unit grounds out it pegs up past full.

Gas gauge jumps past full mark by 1/2 inch when key is turned on, then drops back and jiggles while in park, when you put it in drive the jiggling stops.

fuel level sensor it will eventually set a check eng light. the unit is on top of the fuel pump assembly it is a little black sensor that can be changed by itself or if u wish a new pump assembly will fix it also.
