According to the Haynes book the 2001 to 2007 Escapes had the cylinders numbered 1,2,3 from the front of the motor to the rear near the front Window. Cylinders 4,5,6 are in order from front to rear near the radiator and the Firing order was 1,4,2,5,3,6. This is strange compared to the setup I am used to seeing in a V-6 which puts odds on one side and evens on the other side of the block. Going by what the book indicates the #4 cylinder is the First Cylinder on the motor nearest the Radiator.

1 2 3
4 5 6

The above is what the Haynes repair manual states for cylinder locations.

I have a 2002 Ford Escape my friend hooked up his computer to the car and it says coil pack on # 4 & 5 where is that located in the front or back? I can only see 3 the other 2 are hidden

I have a 2002 Escape V6.
Actually, I think 4 & 5 are in the front.
See this web site:
http://autorepair.about.com/library/firing_orders/bl-fo-1496.htm

I had #4 go bad. It was the coil. I had over 100,000 miles, so I replaced the plugs. To get the back coils and plugs (#1 #2 #3), you'll need to remove the Upper Intake. The gasket set is about $10.

Zeevert was right about all but one thing. Cylinder two is the rear middle cylinder on a V6 or the second one from the passenger side on a 4 cylinder.
