Mazda 323 2002 Sting Immobilizer

When I turn my ignition key to start my car it does not always start the red light on the dash only flashes faster. After a couple of turns of the ignition key the car starts. Then it starts fine for sometime and then the problem starts again.
Can you please help?

Fcuk I got same problem with my Mazda 3 year 2004. Noone can help me at all !!! Even in Mazda they have no idea where is problem. For me it is at the moment only in cold weather. I cannot get throught immobilizer. After few turns it works, but not always (only when its bit warmer). I found out that if it is warmer, and I turn on ventilation for a while after it will let me go! Immobilizer starts flashing ... after few more minutes and turning key few times it will let me go !!! Please write me to [email protected] if you will know updates... I am desperate , cannot use my car in winter at all or cold weather. In summer works fine

You can't bypass an immobilizer as it is all computer controlled and monitors the security modules. You have to fix the issue not find a way around it.

Mazda 6 Sport.recently changed batteries & Key doesn't always work;car start, open or lock doors. Red key light sometimes comes on? Any ideas?

use a scan tool to reset the ECM program as the battery removal may have corrupted the CPU program for all that you mention
if you changed the fob key battery ,it may be necessary to reprogram the key to the immobilizer.

After changing the fan belt at a garage, my Mazda 6 would not start. We trried using the extra key remote, but the car still will not start. What is the problem/solution? Is there a special Security...

Hi there,

Your Mazda 6 keys have transponders built in and only the correct key I.D. will activate your vehicle's immobilizer.

I'm at a loss as to how changing a fan belt could have altered your vehicle's immobilizer system - are you absolutely certain the garage hasn't disturbed any of the electronics?

First, we need to establish whether your vehicle's immobilizer still considers your keys as valid.

- Insert Key # 1 and turn ignition to ON (do not start).
Observe the "Security" light in the cluster - it should illuminate, then turn off after approx. 3 seconds. If this works, then Key # 1 is considered still vaild.
- quickly turn Key 1 back to LOCK position and remove key.

Wait 5 seconds...

- Insert Key # 2 and turn ignition to ON (do not start).
Observe the "Security" light in the cluster - it should illuminate, then turn off after approx. 3 seconds. If this works, then Key # 2 is considered still vaild.

Note: if Security light does not behave as above and keys still won't start your car, then your keys are no longer validated by the PCM

If this is the case, then unfortunately unlike other manufacturers, only Mazda will be able to re-program your key's ID into your vehicle's PCM. Contact your local Mazda Dealership to discuss.

Scott

My '98 Ford Taurus won't start

"Security" or Key-shaped light flashes on the dashboard ? Your car might be equipped with an immobilizer. (you can find more information about the immobilizer in your owner's manual). The immobilizer allows the engine to run only if the correct key is used. If your car has an immobilizer, you probably see a "Security" or Key-shaped light coming on on the dashboard every time you turn the ignition ON. If this light is flashing when you turn the ignition ON, it could mean that there is some problem with an immobilizer or the system does not recognize the key. If the immobilizer doesn't recognize the key, the engine wold not start at all, or would start and then die in few seconds.
You can try a spare key, if it won't work, your dealer is the place to call. Sometimes, the key is just need to be reprogrammed.

I do not have a vehicle manual so need to know: The car will not start --has been starting with hesitation for few days--and on the dash is a red flashing light with a key symbol--what does this...

If you find a red key flashing it means that the car has got antitheft system fitted. Is your car alarmed? What about the key, has it got a remote?
