That usually means short to ground..Look for a wire touching the frame or the body of the car somewhere..Check around the brake switch which is located on the brake pedal...Disconnect the connector and try the fuse again..If it doesnt blow then i would think the switch is bad..Also check around the brake lights and make sure the wires look ok..That is if your talking about the brake light fuse

Can you tell me why the # 28 fuse under the hood keeps blowing when starting vehicle?

Your owners manual should have the info in the back of the book.
If fuse number 28 is a 15 amp fuse, it could be the cruise control and brake lights.

2001 Ford taurus #22 fuse (A/C clutch relay PCM keep alive power fuse) blows. Replaced A/C clutch relay....still blows even with A/C off

Remember that when you THINK the AC's off,it's really not.Almost all cars have the AC compressor actuate every time you set the dial to `defrost' or `mix' positions.
On a TAURUS there are only two positions(maybe three)which DON'T kick the AC on.On some cars, that's the 11 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions on the selector.

SO...........the odds are that the compressor magnetic clutch or wiring to it has shorted.Because you really have power going there even when you think you don't. (:^) don-ohio

Fuse box number for cig lighter for ford 2001 taurus

You can get a .pdf version of the 2001 Ford Taurus Owner's Manual at: http://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerGuidePage&year=2001&make=Ford&model=Taurus

It has instructions and guides for finding and replacing the fuses in a 2001 Ford Taurus. It starts on page 146-147.

Always use the specific Owner's Manual for the correct Model Year of a Ford or Mercury vehicle. I recently purchased a 2001 Ford Taurus, and had thought that I could use the Owner's Manual from a 1999 Mercury Sable from a friend. BUT, I figured out that each model year can be very different (before any serious damage happened.) Good luck.
