98 Expedition # 3 Misfire

I had my check engine light go on last night i took it to the local Autozone to havethe diagnostic test done it shows a misfire on # 3 they told that could be a number of things. Also i smelled something that smelled like fireworks coming thru the vents and noticed the smell on the passenger side ofthe motor couldthis be related? I could feel the truck shaking a little bit too when i would step on the gas.

I just had the same problem and our mechanic said that 95% of the time if you changed the spark plugs and wires it would eliminate the problem. He also said that 1998 Expeditions were notorius for leaking anit-freexe into that particular spark plug by the hose that runs above it. We did as he suggested plus tightened the clamp on the hose to keep the anit-freeze from dripping and have had no problems since. The check engine light went off and it runs like a champ again with 135,000 miles!

Why do I keep getting check engine light to lean po171 po174

Hi,

if you've gone through all of these processes, you might use a free diagnostic from your local autozone in order to ascertain the specific cause of the problem in your car's (obd) system. And then once you've gotten the source of the problem Autozone can help you with getting any necessary materials to replace it and then you can contact a local mobile mechanic in order to install or replace any parts in your car.

Thank you.

Multiple misfire smells gas

When you had the coils checked did you get the module checked as well? Is the car throttle body or multi port injection?

98 FORD EXPEDITION ACCELERATION ISSUES

Do you have a check engine light blinking when this problem occurs? I assume you do because if it is missing and sputtering like you say the engine control computer would detect that and turn on the check engine light. Next step is to have the systems fault codes read through the diagnostic port under the dash in front of the driver, Autozone and others does this test for free.

Engine light is on, flashes when driving above 100 Km

stop by local parts store (Autozone,Advance, etc) and have them do a free fault code test. They can print out a list of faults and clear the codes

01 Ford Expedition. Check Engine light and failed Smog check.

whoever installed the egr valve, if it wasnt you, just cleared the engine codes, thus giving you this problem once again. Get it scanned at autozone, and go from there.
