Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You may want to try a fuel cleaner and changing the fuel filter first if you haven't already. Check for any codes that may have came up if the check engine light is on. Check all your fuel lines and gas tank again. You may have a bad fuel injector so check them for sure. If one is leaking, fuel can be smelled. A simple tune up can help your gas mileage, as well as the cleaner. Check around the fuel filter for loose hoses. If you can access the fuel pump from your back seat, check in that area also. Check the engine block for leaks. Remember, if it is leaking there, the gas will evaporate before you notice leaking spots. Check all your lines behind the engine block and at the firewall. Are your rpm's jumping any? High idle? The throttle may need adjusted. You may be getting rich fuel as well. Check your catylactic convertor. There may be a leak around the fuel pump so that is an option also. If it is not in the back seat, you will have to pull the tank to check it though.

Strong raw fuell smell inside the car intermitantly

Usually, what you smell inside the car is coming thru the vent from the engine compartment.
So it could be a leak around the engine or the vapor canister. Its possible the canister gets overloaded from time to time when the computer vents the gas tank to the canister. A very small leak can be a very strong smell inside the car.

Constant smoke from tail pipe.

If its smoking that bad you should be able to tell if its oil or antifreeze by the smell, stand behind the car as its running, if its white and you smell a sweet smell its antifreeze if its blue and smells like a oil refinery its oil.

2000 Dodge Intrepid with PO455 code and stalling.

A code 455 most likely one or more of the following has happened
a loose or bad gas cap
a non-conforming gas cap
other leaks or damage pieces in the evap system

Inspect the evap system for cracks or breaks in lines listen for vacume leaks or strong gas fume smell and fix all lines you find that are damaged ..I know you say you put a new gas cap but make sure it a conforming cap..Hope this helps

My 2000 dodge ram runs for about 10 minutes and stops, wont crank

Check your inline fuel filter also check your plugs wires for wear. Sounds like a possible Vacuum leak, when not starting. How ever strong smell suggests unburnt fuel. You may want to try a fuel system cleaner to remove any moisture in the fuel system and carbon build up in the exhaust if so try Seafoam available at your local auto parts store. See Seafoam on youtube for videos

What will cause a strong gas smell after turning off engine

Check the fuel cap gasket to be sure it is not torn or worn. After that check the vent hoses that run from the fuel tank to the charcole canister located somonwhere under the hood. Is the smell stronger under the hood or toward the rear of the car? If you cannot find the problem, a fuel leak is dangerous and should be attended to ASAp by somone that has the experience to repair the problem
