also the batery in the vehicle has to be registered to the car. this means you have to go to the dealer to register it. it requires this because the car learns the charging charactreristics of the battery and charges it accordingly. if not registered, the battery will either under charge or overcharge.
The jumper cable connection point under the hood is directly connected to the battery. If you are not familiar with charging batteries, it is much better that you connect your charger under the hood.
Leave the ignition turned off. Connect the positive (red) clamp to the jumper cable connector under the hood. Connect the negative (black) clamp to a bare metal ground point such as a bolt or lifting lug on the engine. Then plug in and turn on the charger. Let it charge for several hours before trying to start the car.
If this is the original battery, it likely won't ever really work well again. Maintenance free batteries do not respond well to being completely discharged, and at 7+ years of age, it is due for replacement anyway. I had to replace the battery in my wife's 2004 BMW 330 about four months ago, and it had never been allowed to go dead,
open trunk, disconnect rear trunk light. use jump box and connect wires to pos neg on jump box. this will give u enough juice to open doors, I have done it twice. easy to do
sounds like the car is running off the battery due to a bad alternator, the battery is just for the car to start, not to keep it running, replace the alternator and charge the battery and your problem should be solved, hope this helped
after replacing the battery, battery replacement has to be registered in the power module.Newer bmw's can experience battery draw issues. usually after battery replacment the active steering has to be re-aligned. you can try turning the steering wheel lock to lock to see if that solves your problem (usually only works on older cars) if you can find a shop that has a GT1 (bmw's older diagnostic equipment) they should be able to reset the light. At the same time if the vehicle has a battery draw and the power module is disconnecting the battery when the charge level gets low, that is your root problem and you will end up with an active steering fault over and over
