I have a 2000 Chevy Prizm and the air conditioning fan only works in the highest position. My guess is that one of the relays is bad. If that's correct, which relay is bad?

no , own a $10 volt meter, well that is easy to use. (1hr, training)

if there is 12vdc to the fan up in grill. then the fan is bad.
if 0v the relay is either bad or being told not to energize.
if the relay coil is 0v (across it)
then the relay is commanded off for due cause.
more tests.. ask.

there are 8 reasons for the (BRAINS box) to cut fan. up to 8.
if the brain box goes to cut A.C
it cuts the compressor and fan.
we can find this easy with that same meter.
in a jiffy.
but most here , just want blind guessing
so here , ill feed the flames.
the fan relay is bad.
ask me tomorrow
and the fan is bad....

but that depend on what engine option
the cooling systems totally vary by engine.
also with or with out air conditioning......???? it too can turn on this fan!

the 7a was offered in 1992 first. my guess is the fuse is a guess. right? of the 4 possible.?
bad FAN (hot wire it to test it) bad wires, bad 194F switch.
a FAN relay, a fan on the black red wire. relay to fan.
or a stuck open 194F engine coolant temp switch, a voltmeter finds this in 5min work. but depends on if A/C or not.

sounds like a the heater/ blower fan relay went bad. Unless you're mechanically-inclined you'll need a mechanic to install the replacement.

Do a Google search for the relay or blower motor and/or search for a Chevy Cavalier (same car) forum to find a fix - if you want to tackle it yourself.

Could be a number of problems. Could be a bad fan motor, blown fuse, or bad fan relay.

have you checked the relay and it can be a bad coolant temp sensor

When the engine is not running the belt is not turning the ac compressor which will not blow cold air unless ac pump is running so engine has to be running
