Power door locks

Look at the end of the dash and between the drivers side door for a second fuse panel. I think everything you mention works on one data bus. You can remove the button pad on the drivers door. Since it gets used all th3 time i# might have gone bad messing up the works.

This is because the either the fuse used is too small or there is a short in the wire.. hence the wiring shd be checked as well as the fuse rating..!!

You have a short somewhere in the system. Maybe one of the lock actuators or a switch. To test disconnect all locks and switch then replace fuse if don't blow start with driver door and reconnect lock check fuse see if it blew if not reconnect switch active lock check fuse see if ok. Continue with each door separate using same steps until fuse no good you will have found short. Replace shorted part.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal for a few minutes. the door lock works on different frequency power signals supplied by one wire. With mixed frequencies stuff happens.

Check all your wires ,make none have rubbed and exposed the bare wire .vibrations might cause the wire to short out on metal

the parts are shorted, the FUSE stops the fire. and flames.
we fix this buy isolating the shorted part.
we do that with an ammeter. (there are other ways, ask)
i see the ammeter prove short then
i try each door manually , 1 by one form the local door switch lock
to see if one door blows the fuse when activated.
BINGO, so then unplug that door lock solenoid, still blow the fuse
(i use a fuse substitute device (sold in all good auto-stores) called a fuse, circuit breaker converter)
lock sol, removed, still blows?, yes? then harness shorts, (hard work)
if Sol, pulled cures over-current, its bad. a shorted soleniod.

there are other ways, ill just list them.
no ammeter?
no C-Breaker.?

1. use a light bulb in place of fuse. (i use a head light in a box)
2. a current limited power supply in place of fuse. (see over current)
3. Pul all parts, 1 by one on this bad line and a box of fuses.

there are 4 ways.
I always use an amp clamp meter on the line
and the circuit breaker trick.
then pull parts. and conn. on the bad feed. (lots there are)

that's it, for shorts.

Unplug cigarette lighter, check circuit, unplug each door individualy at first, Don't forget the back doors, check circuit. Usualy the door wiring is damaged but there may be more then two cigarette lightes depending on the model.

by process of elimination!
one door at a time so disconnect 3 & keep changing the active one till you find which one isnt working
then test its circuits ok

You have a short Somewhere. Check inside the Door where the Harness goes into the Doors. It is the Black Flex duct that looks like a Vacuum hose.

Well in my experience it sure sounds like a bad wire in the wiring in the door jam. I have seen that happen before from the door shutting and opening all the time, I think there is a way to check it, if you put a fuse back in it and try using the passenger door to get in and out. If the fuse don't blow again after using the other door (drivers side) you have found your problem. I don't understand why GM would even change your fuse box for that it doesn't make any sense, I have been a shop owner for 11years now and a mechanic for 20 years and have seen many problem with electrical systems and when a fuse blows it is usually a bare wire touching somewhere in the system, also there is a relay for just about everything in that car, and could be a problem too. I know it may be a inconveniance to go thru the other door but it should help figure out if its the wiring in that drivers door or not.
