98 Breeze started running roughly about 3 months ago. Check engine light came on, code indicated bad #3 fuel injector.l Mechanic replaced, car ran fine for 3 weeks, then started running roughly again, with same code. Mechanic replaced #3 injector again, thinking we had gotten a bad injector. Car ran fine for another 3 weeks, and is now doing the same thing. Any ideas?

I would change a fuel filter first. If that doesn't fix the issue take it to your mechanic and have him put a fuel rail check on it. That will tell you if your fuel pump is bad. But most likely that is what it is. But I suppose it could be the crankshaft sensor. Best of luck

IT IS POSSIBLE THAT IF YOU GET A SMELL OF GAS THAT IS AN INDICATION OF THE ENGINE RUNNING RICH. THIS IS USUALLY CAUSED BY A BAD O2 SENSOR. YOU WILL NEED TO SCAN THE VEHICLE IF A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON.
When the check engine light is on this means there is a problem somewhere in the powertrain control system, which could be almost anything.
Here is what I need you to do, drive your vehicle to AutoZone or another auto parts store near you and have them pull the codes for you. Then get back to me and let me know what those codes are, and what the scanner say the code means.
We will move further with repair procedure after I know what the code or codes are.
HI Larry.... Did you ever get the codes scanned? or has the light not come back on. From what you are describing, It sounds like you may have an O2 sensor gone bad but there could also be other problems. If you haven't checked the codes and want to try the O2 sensor, it may be the cause but a code would really help. It will narrow the problem down . Hope this helps .
