My dad wanted to do something nice for me while I was out of town so he took my car to a new mechanic who said they worked on Porsche's all the time but it appears not as I just found out. They changed the oil, seals, plugs, etc...and I have been driving my baby 1998 Targa 911 the last couple days and just checked the oil since it has been smelling horrible! I just saw it has an excess of 4-5 quarts of Mobil 1, 15-50 oil above what it should be! Yikes!!! What is the worst thing that could have happened? Blown seals, hydrolics, failed bearings? What else? Please, any advice on how to proceed?

95 town car brakes work when they want to?

Did you pressure bleed them from caliper up to the reservoir? You need to do that because of the ABS valves.

Timing chain on 2005 Porsche Cayenne

I am not a Cayenne guy but first and formost the timing belt on Porsche's absolutely must be changed every 60k miles or sooner and the water pump every other time, just for good measure. A rough idle after 1 hour driving does not sound like a timing belt issue to me. I would call/attend a local Porsche Club of America (PCA) event and ask around as to who the best mechanic/shop owner is. In the mean time, IF it is the timing belt DON'T DRIVE IT!!!!! if the belt breaks while the engine is running, you may as well buy a new engine! Get very familiar with everything Porsche and your vehicle will last and love you for a very long time. If you don't it will destroy you and your pocket book!

I hope this gets you in the right direction!

Something is wrong with my AC/ Heat in my 2003 Acura TL-S. I took it to acura $$$$ for a diagnosis but was told that the blower motor needs to be replaced. I took it to another mechanic and was told to...

It sounds like whatever your dad did needs to be un-done. If you are getting hot air then you don't need to replace the blower or any part of it, it sounds like something is just wired up wrong. I would ask you dad what he did and if he can change it back.

I have my Dad's old 1997 Nissan Maxima GXE ( he bought it brand new and always took it to Nissan dealership for everything)' It now has 295000 miles on it, but recently started making a loud rattling sound...

if your chain becomes loose it will become very noisy and should be replaced since most nissans are interference engines which means lots of money for a new engine

I have a porsche cayenne turbo 2003.When I take my foot off the accelerator there's a whining noise coming from the front. When I accelerate, there's no noise.I took it to porsche and they told me my front...

sounds like your porche dealer is one of the "one for one" mechanics (repair it,no, replace it).assuming it is the diff, the pinion can be adjusted to reduce the noise on overun but you will need to get one of the old school mechanics to do this,as personally, ive only done one,in 35 years,i have even heard of some people that fit a thicker oil to reduce the whine........then sell the car.not nice.if you trust the guys that said its repairable, then they "sound"genuine enough.otherwise they would have tried to get you to change it (they make more money/take less time).

I have a 1991 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet The fuel gauge needle is not working it is all the way down. It worked fine until trecently when my mechanic took the sensor out to try to syfon gas out of the tank....

using chevron gas in the tank may be the easiest solution to your problem, don't ask me why but, it worked for me AND I WAS TOLD JUST AS YOU ARE BY ME.

Are there special instructions for oil change?

im not a porsche expert bro but worked for gm for over 7 yrs and we had a cpl of porsches come through, there should be nothing special except fr the fact you should always change the oil with a full synthetic no high mileage **** or cheap oils.. Best ones on market for theses european cars would be mobile or royal purple the purple works very well for hard driving i use all there products for my drag cars and my dad uses it for his new BMW M5 but you should prob consult your dealer first porsche is a very delicate piece of machinery..have a good day..
