have you tried a hard reset??make sure you disconnect the neg term... wait 30 minutes...reconnect it..crank the car...then the npark light should come on,then press the brake pedal, then engage the brake lever...then try putting the car into reverse or drive to make the brake module reset...it should disengage the brakes and the light should come off...as far as starting make sure you check the starter solenoide fuse...on these cars its not wise to let the battery start dying and operating it...it should have given you tell tell signs of its condition...keep me posted

SOURCE: No reverse Jaguar x-type 2003

Check and make sure you used the right type of lube. The reason I say this is a feww years ago i put 90weight in one of mine and it would not shift they are several types of gear lube used nowdays some gear boxes like like automatic tany fluid. Just something to check.

SOURCE: type of oil to use on an xtype manual gear box

hi, you should only use the correct oil for this type of gearbox, available from the jaguar dealer, for the price of posibly damaging the gearbox with the wrong oil you may as well pay a little more from the dealer. regards mark.

Hi

Get a jump start, with a good set of leads.

Connecting + to + Positive to Positive..

Negative to Negative --- to ----, and have your battery tested.

Expect your battery is shot !

Good luck !

John.

A FixYa rating would be Nice....Thank´s ..

2001 jaguar s-type won't crank battery new and charged. Turn the ignition car won't make a sound

many things will cause no start problems could have faulty ignition switch.use test light see if power going to starter if not check ignition fuse to starter.if power going to starter, more likely starter solenoid or starter faulty.if ignition fuse okay and starter and solenoid okay still no start problem could be in the ignition switch or inhibitor switch faulty.code scan for faulty theft security system which will also cause no start conditions.

I have a 2003 jaguar x type 2.5 the cooling fans not working and over heats

cooling systems are the same for all vehicles, depending on years ,, in your case all you have is a fan, relay, and sensor, controlled by a circuit with a fuse, so , always check fuses first, if bad replace,, if not, unplug the fan at the connector,, use a jumper wire to supply the fan with 12 volts direct from the battery ,, if it starts, its not the fan, if it doesn't the fan needs replacing, if that checked out to be good,, backtrack to the fan relay, ( usually the problem) locate it in the under the hood fuse box, it will be listed on the tag on the underside of the fuse box cover ( or in the owners manual itself) you should have a couple of the same relay in this box,, ( Jaguar uses the same relay for a number of items) locate the one for the fan, and switch it out for one that runs a system you know is working, start the vehicle,, and let it run until the thermostat opens,, watch the temp gauge don't let it move up to high. soon after , the fan should start , if by now the system isn't working, its going to normally be a short in that circuit, and would have to looked at by a trained professional with knowledge in electrical circuits

In my 2003 S Type 4.2, my interior lights come on while the car is parked and engine is off. Just bought a new battery and the car died within a week. Something is pulling on battery, any suggestions?

check your door jamb switches they could be broken, when you close the door this is what turns the lights off. Unless you have another cause for this.
