Driving no issues, then engine light comes on and it starts jerking and sputtering and loose some power, then it will settle and run fine, then happen again.? Professional fuel injector cleaner was put in, did not change. Will run fine with no problem, then just happens. Has happened out on highway and in town. 07 PT cruiser, 73,000

Most likely a cam sensor or a crank sensor. The timing belt didn't break did it? They also have an issue with the timing belt tensioner going bad and jumping a tooth.

That is the first thing i would suggest you do. Replace all the spark plugs and the plug wires. Those 2 things are the most commen thing that cause misfires.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, I BROKE A TIMING BELT.   HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE.

I have finally found the problem, check your wire harness from the camshaft position sensor to the main wire bundle. Mine had a bad wire because it was secured and it laid across the coolant hoses running by the harness. I wrapped the wires and secured them with wire ties as best I could and it seems to have fixed the issue.

If no check engine light is on, I would try to replace the coil pack first. Usually on these cars a drop in fuel pressure associated with a bad fuel pump should throw a code.
