Diagram for replacing the heater core in my 2007 Dodge Grande Caravan SE? Strong smell of Radiator Fluid. No obvious leaks, smell stronger when using defrost. Passenger side carpet is not wet. Thinking is might be a pin hole leak in Heater core?

    Thanks but no thanks!!!!!

I can search the internet as well, I guess I was mistaken that you guys were experts and have the scematics/diagrams/pictures on fixing this. I didn't pay 15 dollars so someone could do the same internet search which I have already done. A 2006 Dodge Caravan is not the same as a 2007 Dodge Grande caravan. As the 2007Dodge Grande Caravan you go through the passenger side not the driver side.

Replacing the Front Heater Core in a 2006 Dodge Caravan.
1 Turn the steering wheel so that the wheels point straight forward.
2 Disconnect the negative (black) battery cable.
3 Drain the coolant by twisting open the valve at the bottom of the radiator. Use a clean container that holds at least 10.5 quarts. You will reuse the coolant later.
4 Remove the panel on the lower left side of the steering column and disconnect the parking brake cable with a pair of pliers.
5 Unscrew the 10 bolts that connect the steering column cover liner to the instrument panel and remove the cover.
6 Turn the key to the LOCK position and turn the steering wheel to the LOCKED position.
7 Unhook the gear shift cable and remove its mounting bracket.
8 Unscrew the two screws that connect the bezel to the instrument panel and remove the retaining clips. Remove the bezel.
9 Remove the two screws that connect the steering column shroud to the column and remove the shroud.
10 Remove the coupler from the steering column and intermediate steering shaft.
11 Loosen the nuts that connect the lower steering column mounting bracket, but do not remove them. Completely remove the two nuts and washers from the upper bracket.
12 Pull out the steering column.
13 Remove the interconnect and bracket that connects the instrument panel to the chassis wiring.
14 Remove the boot from the bottom of the steering shaft.
15 Use locking pliers to pinch off the heater hoses in the engine compartment. Remove the plate covering the heater core (the hoses run through it) and disconnect the hoses.
16 Unclip the connectors that hold in the heater core. Lift the accelerator pedal to enable you to slide the heater core out part way. Press the brake pedal to make room to completely remove the heater core.
17 Replace the heater core. Installation is the reverse of removal. The nuts on the steering column mounting bracket should be torqued to 105 ft. lbs. Torque the pinch bolt on the coupler to 21 ft. lbs.

Hello
I can provide written instruction only. if you desire complete illustrated instructions you must purchase the rights to use the copyrighted factory service manuals, these are available at this site www.alldatadiy.com for about $40.00. This is not really a do it yourself job in my opinion, it is very complicated to say the least.

We have no factory manuals. All experts work from home and provide material from our experience in the field and in some cases our personnel tech manuals. Experts are NOT employed by Fixya.com. If you wish to gain access to the factory repair manuals use this site: www.alldatadiy.com You may also find used manuals on line many times, eBay is good shot at that. Thanks

I have a 2005 dodge grand caravan and the radiator fluid was coming out by my feet

If it was coming out by your feet while you were inside the van, your heater core is leaking. Replacing the heater core is a big job - requires removal of the dash assembly.

How do you replace the heater core in a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan? There is a strong anti freeze smell when you turn the heater on.

Unless your vehicle is out of warranty, this is a problem that should be covered. There is no reason that a heater core should fail on a 2-year-old vehicle.

Smell antifreeze

Sounds as if your heater core is leaking or you have a leak in the heater fluid hoses. need to check the hoses by the fire wall to see if you see any liquid staining. Also check the floor board inside to see if there is any moisture there. But for all accounts it sounds like a heater core or hose leaking problem.

Sticky fluid on passenger floor

That sweet smell is usually, radiator coolant. Most likely you have a leak on the hose or the heater core is damaged and leaking.

Strong smell of rad.,fluid coming from heater in a 2000 grand am auto

Sounds like a leaking heater core, must remove dash to replace and is located on the passsenger side of the dash. Before confirming it is the heater core Use a pressure tester and test radiator and all hose check for leaks under the hood first to rule out any other leaks.

How to replace the heater core on a 2005 caravan

Heater blowing clod air

the heater core behind the dash may be bad, it is the coolant tank for the heater system that is to say it is where the heat comes from. kinda pricey to have repaired at a dealership, if you can hear the fan turning but no heat, than it is a good possibility, or a vent hose has fallen off, get down and check under the dash
