My engine was running like a dream when suddenly there was an ugly knock, sounds like a diesel engine, but prior to that my oil light and buzzer went of so I filled up the oil and took it for a test drive, but the light and buzzer going of again I checked the oil level and it was over full so i drained the oil until the level were right, when I started my car the engine had this knock in it.
Please help
DO NOT DRIVE or run this car until you resolve this. Irreperable damage may already have been one, but if not, don't press your luck.
Sounds like you don't have any oil pressure, could be
oil pump bad (pretty rare unless you have 300K miles or more no regular oil changes) or
oil pickup screen plugged up, If you or someone didn't change the oil regularly this is likely
obstruction in oil line (very unlikely)
defective oil filter or pressure relief valve (pretty unlikely)
good luck,

loud knocking can be the timing has gone out so don't drive or start engine till its checked. https://roadmasterengineworld.com/2018/03/timing-gear-caution-on-2011-2016-ford-6-7l-diesel-engines/
loud tapping can be the pistons hitting the valves. engine light could be on because the knock sensor is activated. this will put engine in low rev limp mode to try and limit damage, either way it need looking at to find the fault. other cause can be oil pressure/flow is not correct. or the valves are in need of adjustment. can also be the engine has become out of balance.
It would be more likely a connecting rod bearing that has worn and possibly spun.
Depending if you want a long term repair, the whole engine will have to be stripped and inspected for oil starved components.
Or you could remove oil pan, carry out a main and big end bearing roll, and clean up any damage to crankshaft with fine strip emery cloth, run and see how it goes..
The G16b.
so leaks after?
do a compression test, , warm , wide open throttle
spec is 180 PSI x4
white smoke (oil or steam)
or black smoke.
the color i bet is white and that be oil ,since it drops.
if all oil is gone that is the end. this must never be allowed happen.
Engine knocks are never a good sign - they signal the fact that some parts inside the engine have been used so much that they wobble in their supports. It's impossible to say that you need a new engine just by looking at the oil. Oil is just an indicator on how good the piston-cylinder seal is, if it's dirty the seal might be bad and in that case the engine need a major refit.
Simple test: replace the oil and run the engine for 500 miles; if after that the oil is black then you will know for sure.
Hello. This is not good. Hate to say it but you will need to check for compression on all cylinders as it sounds like you may have a bad head gasket. Joe
I bet your car sounds like a diesel without the gas savings benefits. Your only solution is to replace the cam tensioner! Call VOA to complain about the manufacture defect.
A loud knocking sound could be a variety of things. On the top of the list is Bad connecting rod bearing and main bearings in the bottom end of the engine. Bad lifters may also be a problem. I had to burst your bubble but a loud noise in your engine, like you describe may be alot of pre-mature internal engine wear may be cause by lack of maintenance. You should have it check by a professional before you invest money into fixing it. Remember if the cost of the repairs exceeds that retail value of the vehicle. Its time for a new one. Good Luck
