I have a XLT 800 and GT 1300R, both start OK. Then go to full speed OK, then speed dies off and we can't them past 3/4 speed. Sometimes they each die back to idle.

Do you gas them up at the same place ? May be contaminated fuel for them both to have the same issue . Alcohol/water contaminated fuel is a growing problem with ethanol.

Please check the following:
- Scan the system and read the live data.
- Fuel pump pressure. (38 - 44 psi).
- Fuel filter for clogged.
- Regulating valve.
- Non Return Valve for clogged, located at the top back of fuel tank on the chassis.
- MAP sensor.

My 97 cougar xr7 has a problem when accelerating. if i press on the gas hard it takes a min for the car to catch up and kinda stalls out until i let up on the gas and let it catch up. it also slowed way...

It may also be the catalytic converter. If that gets plugged up it puts a lot of back pressure on the motor. This will make it hard to get up to speed. When not pressing much on the petal it will seem to run fine. Then when you press more to increase speed you will feel it.

Gas gauge jumps past full mark by 1/2 inch when key is turned on, then drops back and jiggles while in park, when you put it in drive the jiggling stops.

fuel level sensor it will eventually set a check eng light. the unit is on top of the fuel pump assembly it is a little black sensor that can be changed by itself or if u wish a new pump assembly will fix it also.

Car died while driving down the highway

Needs tuning. Also replace fuel and air filters. If that doesn't help then it may need piston ring replacement.

Car dies going down the road

First thing i would check would be the fuel filter. Sometimes, when they first start to give problems, there is enough gas to keep them idling or driving around town, but when you get on the highway they starve for fuel.

1997 Bonneville stalls and dies on the road

Shell has had issues with contaminated fuel in the past cant recall what it was but it actually damaged the fuel pump. I hope thats not the issue here can get costly in some cases fuel pumps on GM are a whole assembly. DOes the gas gauge still read properly? This was a big tell with the contamination last time. Gauge would read empty even when full.
