Hi my name is Justin I purchased a 2001 Isuzu trooper Lt. almost two years ago. I really like this vehicle but it has 3 issues arise since I bought it. The ABS light stays on the only time it goes out is when it is extremely cold out like 30 or lower but as soon as the car heats up good the light comes back on. When its off the ABS works but its very faint. How many sensors are there and usually how much does it cost to fix it? Is it a diy project or shop worthy? The second problem is with the Torque on Demand. It worked for the first year I had the truck then it did something wierd. I would press the bottom to activated it and it would not come on, I would shut the car off then turn it back on and it would function normal again for a spell, then at other times if it were on and I tried to turn it off it would not turn off. I would shut the vehicle off then turn it back on and it would work fine for a good while then the same issue. I was driving once and the check transmission light came on for like five minutes then turned off and never came back on. Eventually the TOD stopped working altogether. The transmission light still doesn't come on unless I try to turn on the TOD and it flashes green for several minutes then goes to red. Do your think that the problem is sensor related or transmission related? What is usually the cost to fix the issue and is it diy friendly? Last issue I've noticed over time since I had this vehicle there has been a shifting of hardware sensation when I stop and then release the brake. I would compare the feeling to a bad motor or transmission mount. I had both checked out and was told they were perfectly ok. The gear shift in the floor moves when this happens as well. So if I stop at like 30mph and up kind of abruptly, sometimes I can't always feel the shift forward, but when I go to release the brake while looking at the shifter I'll see and feel the weight shift back. The shifter rocks back toward the rear of the vehicle but I've haven't noticed it go forwad. It not violent or really hard but enough to be noticed. Could it be the drive shaft, brakes or bad diagnosis by Mieneke? When I got it checked out the car shop said there was a rubber house around the floor shifter that wear out of time and that why I see some movement but they couldn't explain the rocking of hardware sensantion. They said it could be the transfer case. Any suggestions will help thanks in advanced for your time and knowledge and or opinion. Justin C.

Holy moly, r guacamole.!
a near record breaking wall of text!
2001 trooper, no engine stated, why?
automatic trans or stick shifted, main box,.>??
ASB needs service, scanned, i'd bet $100 you cant.
ABS needs good brakes, too.
NO ABS works right ,say if pad is gone or sliders jammed
car needs a full brake inspection, not doing a 10 page wall of text there, not ever on brakes (sure sensor wires damaged, so look first)?

never ask how much to fix it, here ever.
you never even to country;/state or if in Canada.
ask your REPAIR shop, prices vary by parts costs
and labor rates, WORLD WIDE< or even STATE WIDE.

TOD is a complex system
if you bought the service manual you'd see its Unique to Isuzu, and most shops will not understand it.
(both rare and Unique)
why own a car from a bugged out ISUZU,,
they dont sell cars here now. none. gone.
id buy the SM book, and keep in the car so your mechanic
and read it...
shifter jumps>
bad mounts, find real shop this time, ASE
Goggle find "ASE SHOP BY ZIP"
WIN (usa )

NO THE CAR IS NOT DIY FRIENDLY! sorry.
IT'S NO TOYOTA COROLLA, 40MILLION SOLD!
We are blind here and deaf.
we cant drive your car, ever. and see all that
all cars are complex machines and need HANds on
diagnoses, and tests driven.'

find a real shop, that can do all that, and not look at you
and say, undriven, that normal.! (if true they sux)

Id' sell it and buy real jeep, not a(1/2 Mitsubishi /jeep POS)
then shops can see it and fix it. they know it.
this car you have is NOT common and TOD is not known in shops, they look at it and go../... oMG.

no lie ,TOD was good back when.
a smart design and system.
but this is 2017, most shops never seen one ever.
unless you can find some old guy(gay hair)
my guess one of 9 SENSORS/switches ARE BAD,OR THE SHIFT MOTOR ON TOD IS BAD.
AND BAD MOUNTS.

LETS DO THE SUMMATION:
BAD BRAKES, ABS UPSET, OR BOTH.
BAD TOD
BAD MOUNTS
What that costs can exceed value of car in that condition.
or could be all easy fixes
only diagnosis finds truth and costs are based only on
your Realities.)(as in what really was bad)

Why not fix brakes first
leaking fuel 1st 1st
brakes 2nd, get the brakes fixed
Id sell it but if love is in the car(why) then find
a real ASE SHOP AND BREAK OUT THAT VISA CARD

Me grandpappy said!
never put a $100 saddle on a $5 horse.
rings true ,even today.

SOURCE: I have a 99 isuzu trooper (jackaroo) 3.5 liter 4wd

sounds like a sensor - when did it start - if just cranked up one day and bam it is there - sounds like either a brake wear indicator issue - if they are connected in those - or a fluid level change in the rear end or transfer case - look for leaks and check the brake pads or shoes

Isuzu trooper 2001 spark plugs

Any parts store can sell you the plugs for that vehicle. The main ones are NGK and Nipendenso. The retailer can also provide you with the proper gap.
Note; I've always found Autolite or Champion Platimun to work best, thats what we run in our company vehicles.

2001 Isuzu Trooper 3.5L DOHC Motor...................... Burns approximately a 1 quart of motor oil every 3-400 miles. 10/30 Motor Oil. Whats the problem? 2nd question: Same vehicle, Torque on Demand 4WD...

The Isuzu 3.5's all burn about 1 quart between oil changes. It was an engineering flaw with that model engine. Some people have said that running full synthetic oil will correct the problem over time. Either way, it is extremely important that you check your oil regularly.

As for you second question: Torque on demand has at its heart wheel speed sensors which typically are the issue. Having a wheel speed sensor replaced will set you back about $300.

I hope I was helpful.

Warranty for 2001 trooper with 110000 miles

I would consult an attorney in this case. A power train warranty should be regardless of ownership and only expire once milage or term from purchase date expires. I do know that Isuzu is pulling out of U.S. sales and your time is running out.
