Window does not lift drivers door - 2001 BMW 325

simple really: locate window crank handle if equipped (non power) gently pry out plug from center use torx driver to remove bolt from center , use same driver to remove bolt from door handle well , and behind door handle (inside) then panel should be loose and lifting up (off lock pin) should move out enough to access plug (if power window equipped) if not panel should lift straight up . and off , mind the clips that are located all four corners (keep them) this should allow you to see the inside of door (plastic covering ) and see what the cause of window off track is , most times its cause is a door drain clogg and now rust has broken off the front mount point of glass rail

the motor is wore out,take door panal off and lift window while pressing the up button. or if it is up enough to grab lift while pressing button

Yes, the driver´s door has the master switch for everything. No need to dismount the door panel. Look inside the door grab rail ( which is part of the window switch subpanel)and there is a tiny black plastic cover that hides a single phillips screw. Lift the cosmetic screw cover with a tiny flat screwdriver, there is a slot to insert the screwdriver, to lift it. PARTIALLY, just enough to see the screw.Unscrew it, and the whole subpanel comes out, pulling upwards. The screw plastic cover is very frail, and has a slave strip that attaches it to the bottom, when unscrewing, be very careful not to break it. The subpanel itself has 2 or 3 connectors to handle window / window lock and remote mirror duties. Check that all connectors are plugged in firmly. If they all were attached to begin with, check that the contacts have not rusted.

The lift gate locking mechanism can be accessed by removing the interir trim pannel on the gate ... and locating the locking actuator and replacing it...
The same can be done for the power window motor ... remove the interior trim panel and replace the power window motor...

sounds like it window motor is weak has power to take it down just not the power to take it up

u really shouldent need a diagram window motor and regulator all one unit and usally pretty is to remove just remove door panel unbolt regulator from window
then eigher unbolt or grind or chishel rivits off door (some are held in by bolts some riveted in ) then remove asembley

if the problem is just the drivers window then the window lift motor is defective.

there may be a couple of screws that hold the door handle assembly to the door if so remove them so you can lift it up, if not it may be that you have to push back on the inside door handle assembly to remove the top of the are where the switches are located. You will have to get this loose and lifted to access the switch.

look to see if the track hold down bolts have come lose? and re adjust the track and re tighten them

most likely the window regulator has broken inside the door and will need to be replaced as well as the regulator handle. To remove them you will need a basic metric socket set, screwdrivers, and a rag or shop towel. start by moving the rag back and forth behind the window crank in order to remove the retaining clip. then once removed pull the crank from the splines of the window regulator.now undo the screw in the door handle press forward on the handle to release it from the door then undo the lock rod clip and remove the handle. there should be two large phillips head screws below the arm rest remove these. gently slide a flat bladed screwdriver under the bottom edge of the door panel. prying up to remove the retaining clips used to fasten the panel to the door. if you break the clips you can get replacements at most auto parts stores in their help section. Next lift the door panel up while lifting the bottom edge away from the door to remove the door panel. once inside the door you will need to lift the window up to gain access to the two 10 mm bolts attaching the regulator to the glass. undo the regulator retaining bracket and retaining bolts from the door. remove the regulator an assistant can be helpful to hold the glass up while you remove the regulator. installation is the reverse of removal
