Hi Dave.

The proper way to reset the DTC is using an OBDII scanner. Go to the nearest Autozone, ask to do a code scanning and to reset codes.

You can also reset the codes at home but you will need a scanner like this:OBDII Scanner - U480.

Here an example showing how to use a scanner tool to reset the codes.

You can also try disconnecting the battery. That will reset the engine check light until the problem occurs again. It may not clear stored diagnostic codes. Make sure that you have the stereo anti theft code if needed.

Regards.

Reset service engine light on chevy astro 2000 van ?

You don't reset it, you resolve what is causing it to register an error. You need to pull the codes from the computer and proceed with testing based on those clues.

Reset the ECU / PCM for Check Engine light removing the neg battery cable for 5 minutes to reset the codes. If the warnin glight come on again, I suggest scanning you vehicle for details, one fault is in there.

Co2 error code in astro van. changed sensor, same problem. Lack of power and speed. Especially up hil or against the wind

Did you reset the code after replacing the sensor? That sounds like the ECM/PCM is in safe mode which allows you to take it to a shop. The code will reset if the correct sensor was replaced after it has successfully started a number of times. If you can take it to the store you bought the sensor at and have them read teh codes off again. They should be willing to reset the code if you bought the part from them.

89 Astro Van. It doesn't want to start. Acts like it isn't getting any gas. I do not have a book for the van to see what fuses need to be replaced.

I have a 1986 Chevry Astro Van that I learned abot the hard way that was doing what yours is doing. In my case, after being ripped off by one fast buck mechanic after another, i learned it is the oil pump computer that probably needs to be replaced. If it does not read the right oil pressure, it won't start. But, what myinsance mechanic did was to run a wire from the ignition to the starter, etc. Cost was $11.--/ after he first pt in a starter, fuel pump, new main engine compter, etc, none of this helped it start. Then he did the hot wire thing, bypassing the oil pump computer. I undersatnd that compter is about $65.00. I got ripped off to the tune of 1,000.00 befoer thru trial and error the real cause was discovered.

Astro van with random starting issue

this van or tipe of vehicles have a very coming problem with the injector assembly fault, if you ever get it to star make sure to see if you see any black smog coming from the exaust or if you notice like spending too much gas then that will be the proble and this part is not too chep to replace
