When oil pressure fails it usually trashes he engine. ie bearings, piston walls ect. And it doesn't take a whole lot of drive or running the engine to do this. The mechanic should have said something to you. and should have checked this out when the engine was apart. This is one of the first things a mechanic should learn. It takes oil/lubricants to keep parts moving

Where is my air conditioner drain in my Mitsubushi Endeavor

The exterior drain is on the firewall behind the engine. It's tucked up about midway up the firewall hidden from view. It's a bit tough to get to, but there is a flange like piece of sheet metal that sticks out. If you really look you can see it if you are underneath the vehicle. It took me a while to find it when I owned this vehicle. If I still had the SUV i would post a picture, sorry.

My 2004 Ford Explorer started making a knocking noise

Get a mechanics' stethoscope and see if you can find the source of the noise. If it is loudest when the scope end is on the oil pan, you have a rod bearing problem - which means that you need a new engine.

2004 explorer engine knocking

Check the oil pressure manually with a gauge. Make sure you have oil pressure. Perhaps you need a new oil pump, or new lifters. Get a professional opinion from a non interested party. Save money, get a diagnosis.

Power steering failure on a 2004 mitsubishi endeavor.hard to turn wheel,is there a belt or other fixable way, owner manual says to bring it into the shop....

1st make a quick check, check fluid level on the pump, make sure the pump is not leaking fluid. check the belt make sure it has no cracks, make sure the belt is not slipping, it shoud not have any oil on it,should be tight. are the pulleys making noise, when the engine is running, does it make more noise when you try to turn. the belt could have stretched. if you jack the front end of your truck, turn engine on and turn power steering left and right with out any problem. if the pump is leaking very little, the lines could have air in them, and the leak would have to be eliminated before getting corrected. and there is the possibility of a bad pump. good luck!

There is a noise coming from the front engine where the ventilator is. It sounds like a diesel car, and the noise increase when the RPM increses. My Isuzu Ascender 2004 has only 60000 mi. I'm wondering if...

I recently purchased a 2004 Ascender with the 4.2l in-line six cylinder motor, and under the 60 day warranty, the fan clutch and water pump had to be replaced. The mechanic told me that the fan clutch wears out causing an out-of-balance condition which puts extra strain on the water pump, which was leaking. Another issue may be that the timing chain needs to be looked at, because the tension wheel/gear for the chain wears out, making the timing chain sloppy. Then the chain flops around inside the housing, making a similar noise to the one you describe. Have your mechanic/technician check it out.

Rattle noise from engine at start up for a few sec.and goes away. Took the car to dealer, and was told its normal.

The oil pump is not getting oil into the top of the engine quick enough on start up

I have a similar problem with a Mazda

Got over it by adding a can of STP Oil treatment to the engine

That coats the surfaces better than the standard oils and cuts down on the noise and the wear factor
