Your is mostlikly on because there are 4 sensors on each axle that read wheel speed, when one malfunctions it sends a signal to the ecm to throw that light, the brake light is probably due to the tention of your ebrake, if it engages right when you start pulling it up then the lever does not go high enough to let the plunger out of the sensor attatched to the ebrake lever, or that sensor could have gotten broken or stuck also, i would adjust your pedel down by the lever should see a sensor that can be unscrewed and backed up then retightend back down, or you may have to adjust your break. the abs should be able to be taken to a autopart store and they can hook it up to a codereader for free and let you know which one is malfunctioning or if it is the entire abs unit since there is a computer that goes to them all though the sensors are out to the elements and usually always mess up down the road from heat and watter, hope that answered all your q's, if it did throw me some blue take care gal

Theres only a few things that will make both lights at the same time first you need to rule out a leak in any hydraulic part blown wheel cylinder, rotted brakeline, leaking master cyl ,leaking caliper or hose first check your brake fluid levelhave somone apply the brakes hold pressure on the pedal look for any sighns of wetness or leaks most common problem wheel cylinder breaks pressure in system turning your light on if your shoes are way down or out of adjustment these cylinders hsve to extend way out to touch the shoe to the drum causing the wheel cylinder to blow creating hydraulic pressure drop tripping your lights

Ford taurus 1996 3.0 ABS ligth on

Hello, These warning lights are pretty accurate. Autozone, Advance, and Oreillys give free scans although the engine system and brake system can require different scanners.

Check your brake fluid level first. The ABS system requires sensors which require counting the revolutions of each wheel. Sometimes the sensors may break, but they can be blinded by dust and debris.

If you have a broken brake pad, the warning light can come on. Often the Emergency brake pad, inside the rear Rotor, can fall apart and trigger an ABS warning.

You need to inspect both the front and rear brakes or take your car to a brake shop for evaluation. Sometimes you can get a free estimate, and some shops can charge for inspecting the Emergency brakes because of the work needed to reach them.

My 2002 Tribute ABS Light & Break Light are both illuminated: break pads and rear drums were replaced march 2011: i know abs is tied in with the break system: what could this possibly mean for break...

hi.

if both lights are on together the car needs to be checked by a professional immediately.

it could be as simple as a loose connection after the work done in march, but both lights together could also mean a MAJOR fault in the ABS system that could result in loss of brakes.

an ABS system is not something that is servicable yourself.
it needs professional diagnostic equipment.

i can only recommend that you drive as little as possible, and get the car checked as soon as you can.

THE LIGHTS FOR abs ENGINE cHECK AND hAND bRAKE REMAIN ON ON THE DASH BOARD. SO HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM

You need to take your car to Autozone. They will scan your computer for the problem. The check engine light is on because your car computer detected a problem. Autozone does not charge for this service. They will tell you what you need and tell you what the problem is. The hand break is referring to your emergency break. Make sure it is all the way down. Autozone will then clear these lights off of your car. If you need anything else, please let me know. I am here to help in anyway possible. Thank you for choosing FixYa.

Abs light on

ABS is the anti binding system this is the system that reduces your car from skidding if you break hard. on older cars you may have been told to pump the break in an emergency to reduce skidding well ABS does that for you.

it is still possible to drive your car without ABS but the light may be indicating something else that is wrong with your breaking system I recommend you have this checked by a certified machanic or dealership.

Abs light emergency light stay on

Hi, You should check for a sligt break fluid leak from the break light switch (attacked to the master cylinder). Yeah, I know this seems strange, but on my 2001 this leak caused all types of problems with lots of dashboard indicators. The leaking switch was a recall for Ford Trucks, but not the minivans. Hope this helps
