I got a 2001 chevy malibu v6 3100 sfi.I just got this car Wednesday one of the coil packs are in the rong spot they got it 3 6 5 2 4 1 should be I think 5 2 6 3 4 1 and they have it wired 1 5 3 6 4 2 what is the order it goes 1 4 6 3 2 5 can someone please help me

3.1L 6 cylinder 14.2 hrs.

WELL LOOK ON TOP OF INTAKE COVER IF IT SAY 2.4 YOU HAVE 4 CYLINDER IF INTAKE COVER SAY 3100 OR 3400 YOU HAVE A 6 CYLINDER ENGINE. OR LOOK AT VECHICLE VIN NUMBER 8TH NUMBER COUNTING LEFT ENGINE CODE 10TH NUMBER MODEL YEAR CODE.

Number one cylinder is on the drivers side on the very frobt towards the headlamp

The catilytic convertor maybr clogged if running as you stated too

That depends on when was the last time the car was serviced and how many miles its done since the last service.

If its a high milage car then having the valves set should clear up the misfire and the lifter tick.

1999 chevy malibu 6 cyl dosen't have a timing belt just the serpentine drive belt the routing diagram should be under the hood

The Firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6. But the wires go on the coils in this order1-4-6-3-2-5

The starter is very simple to replace, 1st always disconnect the battery, the wires at the starter are hot with 12 volts always present, remove the 2 attaching bolts for the starter to the engine block, then remove the wiring, one heavy cable and a bunch of smaller wires, one of those goes to the starter solenoid, mark it, the others are what are called fuse links and provide power to the rest of the car, clean up everything and then re-install in reverse order.
