Check your brake fluid level. Low fluid levels will cause the brake light to come on. If the fluid is not low, there could be a problem with the emergency brake light switch or the brake fluid level sensor.
Check your brake fluid level, the brake light is dual purpose, to tell you the e-brake is on or that your brake fluid is low. if your fluid is low dont put fluid in it at first, you need to check the brakes, front and rear, because as the bad wears it takes more fluid in the line, but if brakes are good its ok to top off fluid.
SOURCE: 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix Thermostat
as you face the engine the thermostat bell is on the right (drivers side) Follow the radiatoe hose. Remove the two bolts and raise the bell still attatched to the hose. the thermostat is there with the rubber seal. You can gently pry the thermostat out with a screwdriver or something similar. Put in new thermostat be sure it is the same as the old one, and then replace or change the seal (be sure it is the smae size and thickness as the old one as I got the wrong size from Napa) Then replace the bell, and tighten, but not over tighten. I hope this helps!

If the seat belt light comes on intermittently with the belt buckled, it may have a bad switch in the buckle or a loose connection @ the switch. This may also set a diagnostic trouble code in the srs control module & keep the srs airbag light on.
