Hi,
The potential causes of this behavior are multiple.
You will need to bring this car to a mechanic to have the error codes read from the ECU. Any errors stored will immediately point to the cause of the warning lights illuminating on the dash.
Autozone will perform a scan for free - however because your Nissan is a 1987 there are different methods of retrieving codes from these earlier cars which use a much older style of error recording. You will need to check with them first if they have this equipment.
A Nissan dealer of course will be able to do this for you without any trouble. One way to save some money on this is to have the dealer do the diagnostic scan then once the cause is pointed out have the work carried out by an independent mechanic or do it yourself.
Hope this helps. Please do leave a vote for the solution. Many thanks.
This was not helpful because you want me to speculate on all the possibilities that are wrong with your car?????
This problem CANNOT be resolved without scanning the main computer for error codes thereby indicating what component is causing the fault. Any mechanic will tell you that!!!
However, if you want some other expert suggesting that you (needlessly) replace the numerous sensors, timing components, electrical components etc etc... that COULD be causing this problem whilst ignoring the blatantly obvious approach to pinpoint the issue - that is up to you
However, when you are down several hundreds or thousands of dollars and the problem still persists you will remember that I warned you about adopting groundless speculation.
