My 1993 Ford F250 driver side door will not shut unless I lift up on the door from the outside. Is it the door hinges that need replacing or what?

Look at the hinge pins, upper and lower, and see if there are bushings on the pins. If so, should be fairly easy to find replacements and install them. You will need an assistant to hold the door.

You may have to replace the hinges but most aftermarket suppliers have pin and bushing kits to repair your existing hinges. A phone call to your auto parts supplier can probably fix you up for a fraction of the price of new hinges.

When you go about fixing the door, an old bumper jack is the best tool to use, if you have one. It will support the end of the door while you remove hinges and make adjustments.Otherwise you will need a helper. BE SURE to mark the position of the hinges before you remove them so you can put them back on easily. If you don't mark them it can take a looooong time to get them adjusted properly. Hope this helps.

My driver side door will not close properly how do I fix it

The way this door is sitting I would say the hinges are worn out, open the door then lift on the lower outside edge of the door while watching the hinges there should be no play in either of them, the latch adjustment can be changed but then you would have to "lift" the door onto the latch.

My 1993 Ford crown vic the driver side door needs to be adjusted is there anyway to do it?

It is possible to adjust the door however you need to be sure that there is no play in the hinges. Open the door and look at the latch and striker (where the latch goes against). If there is wear on either part then the hinges are probably worn. Lift up on the door and check for excessive play. If play is present the hinges should be checked and replaced if necessary. You may be able to adjust the door to the correct position if there is little to no wear in the hinges. The hinge attaching bolts need to be loosened but left snug. A floor jack with padding can be installed under the door for support. Move the door to the desired position and retighten the bolts. It may tke several tries before you get in right. It helps to make the hinges before moving them so that you have a refernce point. Good luck.

My drivers door seems to be sagging from the front pivot point of the hinge which is causing the door to not open well. It has gotten so bad that I have to physically lift the door to open. It no longer...

Sound like what you need, is door hing pins, they go on the hinges, remove hing pine and brass bushing, install new ones, you will need a jack or some thing to hold the door up while you replace the bushing's and pin's.

Door does not shut tight--bad latch???

usually the door latch will go bad when the door hinge bushings are very worn. Inspect the door hinge by holding the door a grab the outside door handle and the door shell firmly. Now lift the door up vertically and see if there is any play in the hinges. If the slightest movement is found replace the door hinge pins and bushings. your door latch may work great again If not replace that too

My car door will not shut now the shop is telling me i need new latches and hinges on driver side

The easiest way to tell if this is truely your problem is to check the door. When you have the door open; lift up and down on the door. if it has signifigant travel up and down you will need to replace the door hinges. Unfortunely one of the side effects of bad door hinges are ruining of the door latch. Look at the striker pin and see if the rubber coating is worn off. Most likely it will be gone.

Good Luck!

The drivers side door on my 93 mustang is not fitting right making it hard to close and open the door. I have to lift it to open or close

check the door hinge pins and make sure they are fully seated. Also check the hinge pin bushings - they are made of bronze and if they wear out, the door will droop

Driver door won't shut

Replace the door hinge pins or adjust the door whichever will work. You can also adjust the door latch striker a little, but to much and door will not fit correctly in opening.
