I blocked the front air intake with steel wire mesh. They still were getting in. A few days later I pulled off the bumber Ann noticed all four rear vents were chewed open. I added the steel mesh on the rear vents and the problem is solved.
What make and model of Lincoln do you have?
Usually the cabin filter vent inlet is located in t he firewall of the car. It is activated when the air-con is set to vent, so you will see a slight opening when you open the vent.
You will see there is a door on the firewall of your truck, hidden underneath all of the wiring and such on the passengers side of the truck. You can only get to it through the bottom of the truck. You will actually need to jack the vehicle up pretty high in order to access it. The easiest thing to go is attach a flexible small diameter hose (use duct tape) to the end of your vacuum and slide it in past the cabin filter in order to clean out the rest of the area you wish to clean. The inlet has mesh covering on it to prevent any objects, such as insects and the like to get into the air system, so you will not be able to clean it from the outside.
To get rid of the lingering smell, I suggest you go to the auto parts store and pick up ozium. It is a neutralizer and will break down the ***** smell you are bound to incur. Spray a liberal amount all over the area that has been touched bu mice, as they drag their bodies and ***** could be everywhere they went. Otherwise, I suggest a good shampooing and still lot of ozium. This is not going away overnight.

It's most likely a vacuum line, look under your hood (close to the cowl panel) for a disconnected, cracked or broken vacuum line.
In some rear cases, it could be the vacuum switch (in dash). Or vacuum diaphragm (under dash).
Hope this helps you ???

So far we have removed the Cabin Air Filter that is behind the Glove box. That was loade with fibers and nest materials. We have vacuumed the area where the air filter was contained. Just looking to find the inlet hose for the outside air.
