Hi,
Looks like the shifting cable had been remove during the installation of the engine rubber mount and failed to check the shift point during re installation. Adjust the link cable to the appropriate shifting points.
Hope that helps you out!

Hi Leonard, I have almost the same problem.. I changed the gear box of my 2007 corolla about 5 months ago. Then I noticed the car jerks or kind of pushes forward whenever i change my gear from park/neutral to drive or reverse. Please what do you think the problem is...

I have taken it to the garage and had the valvebody and solenoid valve replaced at different times but they didnt stop the jerking..

    Please help!

    Hi,

Can't say "NO" to people who's in trouble.

Seems they changed the important parts inside the transmission and forgot to adjust the governor, it is as mall motor( that produces electric current ) that signals the solenoid to activate in certain speed shifting, operated via ECU( Electronic Control Unit )/computer.

My suggestion is to bring that car to the nearest dealer and have them scan your computer and tune the transmission.

    Hope that helps!

My Pontiac Torrent 2007 has a vibration at 60mph. Tires have been balanced and the front drive shaft and centre u-join. Not sure what to check next. Can you make a suggestion?

Gearbox mount might be worn, my car did the same thing at a certain speed.

First I changed differential oil and gearbox oil, helped a little but didn't solve it.

Then changed gearbox mounts and that worked for me. Not sure your problem is the same tho.

You hear any noises just before vibration starts?

What causes Toyota Land cruiser gears to jump out of gear when driving

Usually worn parts in the gearbox, called 'detents'. These normally hold the gear engaged. Try holding it in gear with the lever. If that does not work then the wear may be further in, on the shaft spacers and gear teeth themselves. You may be able to get a reconditioned gearbox, depending on where you are.

Another cause mentioned by owners is worn engine mounts, so check those too.

1992 lexus es 30 jerks when pulling off

does sound like a mounting type symptom i would get the engine and transmission mounting points checked ASAP as could be damaging the chassis,or even the mounting points on the engine/gearbox which could cost a fair amount to replace , the other possability is the drive shaft may have to much free play and at start of movement it could cause a jerk ,this again would need looking at very soon as could be causing damage to the drive train etc

!996 Toyota corolla, starts up ok but when put on reverse or drive, won't move even when pushed

Check the gear lever connection with the gearbox.
Check the gearbox oil level and colour. Replace if necessary.

I changed the gear box of my 2007 corolla about 5 months ago. Then I noticed the car jerks or kind of pushes forward whenever i change my gear from park/neutral to drive or reverse. Please what do you...

A delay of more than a second in shifting from the neutral to drive or reverse gear, could mean that there is a problem with the transmission. If on changing from a neutral or park position to the drive or reverse gear, the car does not immediately catch the gear and move forward or backward, then it could mean a problem in the transmission. If you change gears, and you hear a sudden clunk or sudden jolt or shudder, then the shifting is not smooth and there could be a problem with the gearbox. If the engine rpm keeps increasing but there is no increase in the speed, then it could be a sign of the transmission slipping. Most automatic transmission systems, nowadays, have a check engine light or an OD light, which flashes if there is a problem with the engine.

2001 toyota corolla makes rumbling sound when i start it, and when i reverse. It stops when i start driving

Thinking a motor mount, try this .Open the hood, then start it ,you should be able to see the engine from the drivers seat,at least a little.Put in reverse and then drive ,if the engine rocks more one way then the other it needs a mount changed. The mounts let the motor move maybe 1/2 an inch,if it moves much more things start to make contact, like the exhaust pipe and the body, making a rumble.
