I have a 1999 XK8 and I have the same problem. I took the vehicle to the local Jaguar dealership and they informed me that the control module is bad and that the part would cost over $2800.00. They also told me that they could not reset the light or device. I did not allow them to install the new module and I am going to take the vehicle to another shop and see if I can get a different result.

ABS Traction control and Stability control light comes and goes XK8 1998

1998 XK8 I had the module rebuilt by BBA, it took about 40 miles of driving before the light went out. OK for about a month now it comes and goes The module is guaranteed, BBA wants to know the error codes. Regular OBD scan doesn't give them Jaguar dealer wants $150 to do a scan.

Similarly, my abs light stays lit and the traction control/stability control lights flash continually. Like jrfontaine listed here, my Jag dealer quoted me a $3000 cost and could not turn the lights off. He had no other solution and has been in Jag service for many years. I believe he tried to clear the fault codes. Is there no fuse or bulb that can be removed? (Sorry if this is a dumb question!) What is the name of the part?

I know of one Jaguar XK8 owner that just had rusty brake rotors. Because of the surface rust it could not get a clear signal to the wheel sensor. That causing a fault code to pop up.
Also say you turn a corner and one tire just ever so slightly brakes traction. This will make your ABS and Traction control fault code light come on. The car will actually apply a braking to the wheel that lost traction. The car thinks that you had lost control, say spinning out and will safely apply the brake to the loose spinning wheel. After about 3 new start ups the code should clear itself. I drove our XK8 for years always wondering why on a hard left turn my traction and ABS light would come on? Always thought loose connection, bad sensor or wiring. After countless times of cleaning sensors and checking wiring I finally read above some place. Now I take that turn slower and the problem has not been back! Cars are to damn smart! Many times it is us owners that do do not understand how the systems all work together.

The most likely root cause of the problem has been determined, and its step by step fix is also detailed if you have the skills to do that yourself. See the excellent detailed website posting by Dan Jensen on the Jag-lovers.org site forums.jag-lovers.org under avsn.php?1169101j41 . He describes what goes wrong in the $2800 ABS control electronic board, and that simply re-soldering a few heavy wires to the board will fix the trouble. But it requires some mechanical work to get that module out, and then some more work to saw the plastic case apart to get to that circuit board. - Best regards - MHH

ONLY replace the module if the code is a C1095 pump/motor.
If the cose is anything else like a c1155 etc then the problem is elsewhere. You have no way of knowing until you get the codes scanned. C1095 means the module which is the black electronic box next to the abs pump. If it is the c1155/c1154 then it is usually the abs harness. The wire connector that goes from the top of the inner fender(wing) to the abs sensor on the wheel hub.
Good Luck

  • Anonymous May 07, 2009

The abs module is the problem, everyone on the early xk8's goes bad, so this was not an inappropriate answer! C1155 means sensors, c1095 means the abs module!

Could be your wheel sensors. Try cleaning them also the vanes on the hubs. as the module needs the get a reading from all wheels before the light go out. Hope this helps

I have 1999 Jaguar XK8. Had same problem with ABS, traction and stability control. Check EBay and found BBA-REMAN selling they repair services. Place starting bid $35.00 on Jaguar ABS module and won. Free shipping and life time warranty. Just received back and after installation all ABS and brake lights disappear. No more traction control, stability control fail messages on the clock. Only Check Engine light was on. Reset light with chip scanner. Driving car for all day and no more problem. It wasn't big money to take a chance. And now one of my friend with 2000 SAAB has the same problem with ABS. We just found on EBay "Buy it Now" $50.00 repair service on SAAB ABS module. And now its on its way to BBA-REMAN. Keep fingers cross it will work this time again.

The only way to get a accurate decision on what the fault is take your vehicle to a local garage and ask for a diagnostic check this can cost between £30 and £50 if you are lucky it could be a case of just clearing the fault codes on your vehicle

You can go to this website BBA-REMAN.com. They will fix it and it's only $300 I think. I suggest calling them, you have to send them the part, but it's easily accessible and you can still drive your car.

The esp and abs light stays on my Suzuki Zs5 1.9diss 2010

The stability control system gets all it's information from the ABS system. The ABS system gets all it's info from the wheel speed sensors. Once the ABS system stores a trouble code, it shuts off the stability control and lights both lights. So, get the ABS trouble code read. That's the starting point.

STABILITY CONTROL FAILURE JAGUAR 3.2 V8

I had this problem with this vehicle due to a damaged ABS sensor on one of the wheels. It got damaged when a wheel bearing went bad. The amber ABS warning symbol also lights. Replacing the sensor cured the problem, something that can be done by an owner. They are expensive new but I got a cheap s/h one on eBay.
I currently have this problem again, but this time there is no servo assist on the brakes, a new and different symptom.

2000 Jaguar xj8 turn over won't start stability control fail light on.

the stab light comes on if the battery is low because you are cranking the engine your aj26 v8 engine may have a common problem for cars up to that model/year with worn nicosil coated bores ie. low compression check the vin no. at your jag dealer you can get it started by removing the spark plugs and putting a egg cup of engine oil in to each of the cylinders the first thing to do is to check for fault codes using a obd code reader for a clue followed by a compression test

My traction and stability controll failure lights along with my ABS warning light are constantly on

i believe they are related to a abs problem. the car uses the abs to control the stability (braking on certain wheels when nessisary) there is probably a malfunction in the abs system that's why the light is on constantly. this would need to be looked at by a professional repair facility.

1999 jaguar xj8 with abs light on and stability control fail message, what is the problem with this? thanks.

abs modules work very hard. by the age of your car it seems that the abs module is packing up. the abs system has sensors on all four wheels that figures out braking, stability and control of the car when cornering. these do brake down over time and is part of the wear and tear side of things. you don't need to buy a new one. they do overhaul these things for much cheaper. your car magazines should advertize the fixing of these things or contact a scrapyard for a secondahand one. check if the abs sensors are not faulty and replace them. do not go to the agents, they will rip you off. good luck

Dcs and abs light staying on

car is sensing a problem with the stability control system (DSC) or the antilock brake system (ABS). usually an ABS problem will turn off the DSC, so DSC may be ok, just ABS needs a look at.

since its an '08 model, it should still be covered by the BMW warranty provided you live in the USA. take it in and have them fix it. not safe driving with both systems deactivated.
