Get the service book out and check every service form zero to 130000 miles. get a note book and jot down any changes from form to form. 1000 mile may say oil change , enter this , 5000 mile service may say , oil change and oil filter , enter oil filter, do each form and you will have a factory list of what should have been done.

SOURCE: just bought a 2004 mitsubishi

i would have everything checked, the most important one would be the timing belt, this all depends on the engine in this car, with 113,000 miles the timing belt would be the first thing if it has one. the next thing would be an oil change and ****** fluid flush and the filter if its automatic, if standard shift then just the oil because this ****** has no filter. iwould tune it up and have the cabin filter changed, check tires and rotate them and an alignment, have the brakes checked and adjusted if needed, have the shocks and struts checked and the suspension checked, the coolant flushed and brake fluid and power ssteering fluid checked and flushed if needed. the car would and should be checked over completly, this is a good car but maintenance should be done, this will help the life of the car and also you just bought the car, you would like it to last. there are some people that never do anything and car lasts a while but when thing start to go it costs so much because of the lack of upkeep. hope this helps.good day.

2004 camry with 104,000 miles, no problems just wondering what needs maintenance needs to be done?

Depends on what you have done so far.
The transmission fluid should have been replaced, the timing belt and water pump, spark plugs, serpentine belt, radiator hoses, and fuel filter should have been replaced at 75,000 miles or before.
There should be a maintenance schedule in the back of your owners manual with some guides.

Will experienced Honda owners share best practices with a young family driving a 2004 Accord?

Tire-Go by the label on the door jam on the driver's door
Oil-Follow the manufacturer's recommendation in the owner's manual
Maintenance-Today's cars usually come with a maintenance schedule. Follow the proper maintenance for the mileage your car currently has on it.
If that puppy has only 45,000 miles on it, the timing chain shouldn't have to be replaced until it's between 120,000 and 150,000 miles.

Hello, just wanted to know when do my 2004 dodge stratus need a tune up, it has 71500 miles on it now. Also what other maintenance should I look to get for a car to keep it running and healthly, no...

Well, you didn't mention which engine your Sratus is equipped with, so I can't give you any specifics on your engine.
The best thing you can do is change the oil, and when you are done changing the oil, change it again. When you are done changing it again, start over. :) I cannot count all of the engines that I have seen go to an early grave because the oil was not changed regularly. I have customers that regularly go 1000, 2000, or more miles over on their oil changes, then cry the blues when the engine blows up.

If your engine is equipped with a 2.4L engine, you need to make sure the timing belt and related components are replaced when they should be. The service interval is 90,000 miles.
Don't skimp and replace just the belt. Spend the extra money and do it right! The pullies and the water pump that the belt rides on also have the same mileage as the belt and will fail and cause the belt to fail before it would be due again. I have seen several people pay their hard-earned cash to replace the belt only, just to have the tensioner pulley or the water pump fail 10,000 miles later and destroy the new belt and cause severe engine damage.

If you have the 2.7 engine, this is not an issue because it is a chain-driven engine.

For more information on the maintenance of your vehicle, it would be best to read your Owner's Manual.

Im in the process of buying a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer, it's beautiful and from the outer and inner apperance it's very well taken care of.. The problem is it has 140,000+ miles.. When I mention...

That really depends on the quality and quantity of maintenance done on the vehicle. With 140+K miles your looking at 20 - 23K miles per year. Does the owner have service records, were all the manufacturer's recommended maintenance done at the proper intervals. Has the transfer case fluid been changed every 50K miles? Front and rear differential fluids at 100K? Any transmission service work done? Plugs should have been changed at around 100K.

have your torque converter checked sounds like its going to the locked position when you are in reverse. your torque converter should only lock in after you get up to 30-40 MPH then should unlock after you slow down or stop.

Hi, I need to know when I need to change the transmission fluid in my car Mitsubishi Lancer 2008, automatic. My car has 41,000 km. Thank,Romy

The owners manual says nothing about ATF change intervals. The warranty manual says check it regularly. In the severe service section of the warranty manual it says for severe duty change it at 30,000 miles(48,000 kilometers). I would consider changing the ATF no later than 50,000 miles(80,000 kilometers). Mitsubishi cars use there own Diamond ATF SP III. If you do not change it by 60,000 to 70,000 miles (96,000 to 113,000 kilometers) the transmission may start to act funny when shifting. Regular changes will keep you from experiencing this problem. Be sure to use genuine Mitsubishi Diamond ATF SP III or a synthetic equivalent.

Yes, I would replace it according to the owner's manual. Could be very expensive if it breaks.
