Fuel relay my 2002 chevy van died this morning and I think my fuel pump is gone but the auto parts store told me to check my relay fuse and I don't have a manual to locate it. Where do I find it ??

there is no fuse or relay ,here is an easy way to check the alternator

start the van and the disconect the neg battery cable,if the engine dies its bad,it if stays running then turn on the head lights if it dies then its a weak alternator. one more tip have the auto parts place check the old one on the machine to make sure and also the new one before walk out with it. I know how much of a problem it is to change out on that van I have one. You dont want to have to do it twice. I have had bad ones right out of the box in the past. I have also had bad starters and master cylinders right out of box. just because its new or rebuilt does not mean it allways works. better to know before you leave the store even if they think you are nuts. They wont be there to help you put it in lol. Its not such a bad job once you get the belt and air breather tube off. then at least you can get two fingers in there.

drive the truck or van to advance auto parts store near you and have them check the OBD II code sensor to see if you get any codes at all. Usually your check engine light should come on by your dash but if you have a short too that this might not come on. Also usually have autozone or advance auto parts check your altinator and battery out first when you are there. I think that the wires might be shorting out things by your engine that is causing this problem.

I believe the relay is on fire wall in center or on drivers side it will be w/ 1 or 2 other relays they usely are the same . not gospel.. 1, is fuel pump..it will click w/ u turn on the key to start poss. u can feel it & hear it .Some .auto parts stores may check this for You...

If you turn the key from off to run ( do not start ) does the theft light go out ?
How did you check the fuel pump relay ? My 2001 at ~ 35K miles the fuel pump relay went out, I checked it by swapping the trailer tow adapter reverse lamp relay into the place of the fuel pump relay.
The thing I am drawing a blank on, and you seem to confirm what I think, is the fuel pump relay is removable in the '02. Must be the '03 when the fuel pump relay became integrated into the fuel panel ( non serviceable ).

If you jumper the fuel pump relay, does it turn on ( red line in picture below )

Have you checked if the pump is actually pumping gas by removeing the fuel line from carb stick it in glass jar and have someone else crank engine . if gas pours out change fuel filter if not replace fuel pump. if you are fuel injected disreguard last. get fuel pressure tester from auto parts store .they will hav specs on how many pounds of pressuere you should have if pump checks out good try replaceing fuel filter.

Try having someone pound on the bottom of the tank while your cranking if the van runs replace the pump.

What have to do is check the fuel pressure when it dies.What you do is hook up a fuel pressure tester and when you go to drive it check and see if you are loosing pressure.If you do loose pressure then check the connections to the pump and make sure you are getting power to it.If it was fine after the repair shop fixed it I don`t believe it has anything to do with this.I don`t think the relay is bad because they usually don`t go bad.If you want to make sure then you can swap it with another relay that is the same from the fuse block.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Does the starter make any noise or click when you turn the key to start? If it does not, chk. battery could be bad, and battery cables could be loose or corroded. If there good and clean and battery is good try tapping starter see if it will turn and start if it does or still clicks starter bad. It could be ignition switch if it does nothing at all, but if it clicks most likely its starter.

maybe its the ignision fuse your van will do all the starting signs but if this fuse has gone it wont run
