This is a 1991 convertible. The headlights will not come up nor do they work?

  • wschrum Oct 09, 2008

My headlights will come up, but not come down.

  • marls01 Oct 31, 2008

Whilst driving last night the headlight were on high beam. I dimmed the lights and the headlights would not come back on nor would the lights open. The high beam would still work and of course the light holders would open if I held the high beam switch in the flash position.

The light holders would open if the centre control was opereated and only the parking lights remained on.

I checked both fuses and they are OK.

Any ideas where to go next???

    Thanks

    John

There are two fuses for the lights one is under the hood and one is under the dash try both of those. THERE IS ALSO A MANUAL WAY OF RAISING THEM TURN THE LITTLE KNOBS BEHIND THE LIGHT WHEN YOU OPEN THE HOOD. There is a large plug in under the lights the passange side is easy to see the other side is a little hardier. Make sure they are plugged in an no corroision on the terminals . I have a 91' conv also had the same problem. I have a problem with mine i keep throwing the altenator belt off can't figure it out is there a spacier between the bracket and altenator?

How to fix non working headlights

First check your fuses. If ok. Turn your headlight switch and see if rear parking lights turn on. If they do more than likely your headlight switch is not your problem. If running lights dont come on, check your headlight switch operation..

My headlights stopped working on a 1991 oldsmobile ninety-eight. What should I do?

Unplug headlight connectors. With switch on, test for voltage going to connectors. If there's voltage then headlights are burned out. If no voltage to connectors, check headlight fuse. If fuse is good than its likely the headlight switch on the dash/steering column that's causing the issue.

Headlights wont work

According to my wiring diagram, the headlight switch works a relay which is powered by two different fuses.
I would check the relay for voltage first.
You may need a repair manual to trace the circuits.

High beams not working on 1991 buick park avenue only have dim lights that are working

I couldn't find any information on a headlight relay for your car, so it must be a fuse. I would also check the headlight bulbs, although it would be unusual that both of them burned out at the same time.

Dash and tail lights stopped working on my daughters 1991 toyota celica gt. the fuse has been checked and replaced. it was ok. the headlights were recently changed. is it true the dash and tail lights run...

If the tail lights and the dash lights stopped working and the tail light and the panel lighting fuses are both o.k. and you can find no other blown fuses then the problem is most likely the headlight switch.

1991 honda accord ex headlight problems

Hello, firstly I was wondering if the lights shut off when you pull the switch off the harness?
If YES, then THAT switch or wiring could be bad
if NO, then it's most likely the body control module
