You can't fix it yourself. It takes a scanner at your Local Dealership to do it. People do it, (new battery) everyday unaware that doing so can and usually does, arm the theft system and either kills the radio or the whole car. To me it's just another built-in defect that requires dealer assistance. It's a buzzkill I know, and it probably won't be long until car owners won't even have access to the engine compartment.
Testimonial: "Thank you very much but this so unfair. I am a single mom of three and its a shame that I cant even save money by changing my own battery."
You are the perfect example of why I do this, for free. The store you bought the new battery from knows the year, make and model of your car. They also know that if a power source is not inserted into the cars lighter, or accessory socket that the loss of power will arm the theft system, wipe-out radio presets, and clear the computer of any codes it may have stored. They knew, and they should have installed the battery for you, or at least warned you about what could happen. I commend you for your efforts and all, But, sometimes its OKAY to play the "Single Mom of Three" Card. I won't tell anyone!!
