I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 1997 HONDA ACCORD, THE D (DRIVE) LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. I ALREADY CHANGED THE SPEED SENSOR THAT IS LOCATED ON THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT WENT OFF AT FIRST THEN WHEN I STARTED DRIVING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND D ( DRIVE) LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AGAIN. CAN ANY ONE TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO NOW!!!!!!!!!

I have a 1997 Honda Accord LX. The check engine light came on about a month ago indicating a problem with the turbine speed sensor. The car shifts and drives normally, i.e. I don't notice any problem. The car has 216,000 miles. It burns no oil and drives beautifully. How much does a sensor cost?

    Po715

I do not believe so . Code p0715 if that relates to your question refers to the turbine shaft speed(TSS) sensor-circuit malfunction===causes wiring--TSS sensor--ECM/TCM
The drive speed sensor is the sensor that works the speedo and sends impulses to the transmission control module to change gears in relation to the turbine speed sensor
This is how the TCM knows when to change ratios in the transmission because of the differences in recorded speeds of the engine torque convertor and the drive shaft

    Speed sensor

The sensor should be in the side of the transmission.
The speedo would stop working, or you would have shifting troubles with the transmission. And you would have a check engine light on with a trouble code for the sensor.

    Broken Speedometer?

You are correct in thinking if the speed sensor fails the check engine light should be on, and you should experience problems with the transmission.
It sounds like just the speedo has failed.

    I have a 2000 Mazda 626 LX 2.5 L automatic transmission with the code p0715. Any help?

    no
a vehicle speed sensor ( VSS) reports on the vehicle speed to the ECM, speedo and TCM
the turbine speed sensor reports on the input shaft speed so that the TCM knows when to change ratios against the VSS reports
the sensor is readily available from dealer spares , transmission shops , e-bay or the wreckers / junk yards
talk with an accredited transmission specialist shop

4r70w speedo quits and transmission quits shifting, replaced turbine speed sensor & abs sensor in diff, still has same problem

Be sure to check the vss (vehicle speed sensor) at the output shaft as it's a major input for both engine and transmission. This is the first one to suspect.

    Speedo not working corectly

This is an electronic speedo, could be several things but probably 1st and easiest thing to try is repalceing the vehicle speed sensor(vss). Also need to know if check engine light is on, and if any other electrical items are malfunctioning.
