Have a 1997 olds silhouette. Replaced alternator and got a rebuilt one after batt light and subsequent abs and tcs light came on and van stopped running. new alternator seemed fine for four days. abs and tcs lights came on then batt light all on day four and then van died in traffic. tested load on batt and batt test good. pulled alternator and got tested. tested bad. put in new alternator and batt voltage does not seem to be increasing as it should. installed with 12.5 at rest and this does not rise when van is startedn (revved to 3000). tested all cables from alt and starter and all ohmed out properly. all fuses good. No current warnign lights on dash.

1. Check the negative terminal where it is grounded on the chassi (frame) or block. Clean and secure connection. Also, look for an additional ground that my be connected from the hood to the rear fire wall. These are usually found on the passenger side; if none are found, get some wire and run it from the hood to the rear fire wall, or side fire wall on either side of the engine compartment.
2. If the car can be jump started: the alternator tests good, the battery tests good - start looking for blown fuses - replace any that are bad. Also, replace the starter relay as it may be shorting out and be bad. This can be found under the hood in the fuse/relay box usually placed near the battery (just behind battery).
3. I also suggest having a technician perform a diagnostics test done before any other parts are replaced (except ground from hood to firewall). This will help diagnose a more accurate issue as why this is happening, and will save you time and money from replacing random parts. Have them test the ECM {electic control module) or "brain/computer".
Please let me know if you need further assitance.

Tcs light came on 99 Acura TL. Since that happened batt died and will not charge. Alternator tested good

battery will need to be replaced and codes cleared from ecu, tcs light more then likely coincidence due to another possible failure, or due to battery problem cause the ecu to code, and needs to be reset.

Hi, the screeching noise could be a wheel bearing,if there is enough play in the bearing this could give a bigger air gap between the abs sensor and reluctor which would bring the abs/tcs lights on.

2002 Odyssey - TCS, ABS and Brake idicators are on. What does this mean.

i have a friends van with the same issue... i replaced the alternator, (it tested bad) she refused to replace the batt too like i suggested, but the lights all went off for like 2 months... seemed fine. then we had a ****** overheating issue probably related to the condensor being blocked... and now those 3 lights are back on. not sure of a solution but the 3 statements listed above don't seem to answer anything... and im leaning towards another charging issue... just not sure what yet.

What does abs and tcs stand for the indicator light stays on and needs attention is it the brakes

ABS - antilock braking system
TCS - traction control system

If the warning light is on then there is a fault in the system, usually one of the sensors on each of the wheel hubs that measure the speed of the wheel.

Why does the silhouette make the hummin nooise when the abs/tcs light is on

The humming noise is probably caused by a bad bearing hub assembly which also caused the abs and tcs light to come on. Does this only make the noise when the lights are on and vehicle is not moving or just when vehicle is moving?

My brake light, ABS light and TCS light all appear on dashboard. This all occurred after my van wouldn't start in extremely cold weather. I'm afraid to drive the van. My husband thinks it might be low...

The brake light may be on because of low fluid. The traction control is on because the abs light is on.System requires the abs to be actively working for traction control to work. The most common cause of this is a wheel speed sensor which on this vehicle is part of the bearing hub assembly. You will need a scan tool to locate where the fault is in the abs system.

Warning light came on for ABS on OLDS Silhouette van. It went off and came on again three days later.

There is a problem with the ABS. Your normal brakes will still work, but you may or may not have a functioning ABS. The system needs to be looked at by a professional. It can be a number of things causing the problem.
