Look under the dash, on the brake pedal arm. There are one or two switches that activate brake lights and/or shift unlock. Check for loose mounting nut or a missing rubber nubber. Is the brake pedal coming all the way back up? Look on the floor for something not usually found there. These switches are adjustable and it may be as simple as adjusting them. Have a helper look for brake lights on and shift lever unlocked while you push and release the switches with your finger. Depress the brake pedal to get it out of the way. Remember to set the park brake first. Could just be a bad switch or loose connector. Check fuses and the bulbs. Is shifter fully in Park? Also try jiggling the turn signal lever.

How to maneuver the center console out of a 2008 Chrysler Sebring to replace interlock spring?

Take a close look at the shift interlock cable, can repair without removing the console entirely. Might want to contact your local dealer see if there is any open recalls.

My CHRYSLER SEBRING SHIFT KNOB DON'T MOVE FROM PARK IN TO GEAR

Thats quite common on 2007-2008 models. You should have received a letter from Chrysler Corp. addressing this issue. (I did). The y said to take it to your nearest Chrysler dealer and they will fix it free (parts & labor). They will install a clip to reinforce the mechanism that assist this button to release it from park. Mine has not failed yet on my 2008, but it did on my son-in-laws 2007 (after his warranty expired) But he never recieved a letter. Your car might have to still be under warranty...........Good luck.

Shifter was broken. Still under warranty, so dealer replaced. Works fine. According to a dealer service person trying to assist this is not an uncommon problem with Chrysler/Dodge products.

08 Chrysler Sebring Transmission

I assume that you have to press the brake pedal in order to shift from park (ie:safety switch) you might first check to see if you have brake lights as they should be on the same circut and operated by the same switch. If the lights dont work, check the fuses could be a simple fix. Hope this helps
