I have a 1992 gmc sierra and when I tried to start it nothing happened, I replaced the starter and now all that happens is that the starter keeps clicking. Any ideas?

Did you replace the starter solenoid, it sounds like the linear motion is there in the starter, just no turn. check the solenoid

manuel trans or auto? put it in park or nuetral " wiggle the shifter" sometimes ( auto trans) nuetral saftey switch is out of adjustment

92 sierra 5.7 3 turns to start runs fine after turning off it takes 12 or more turns

1- Tune-up (spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, rotor, and cap.
2- Quality of the gas (low flash point)

Replacing starter on 1992 gmc sierra 305 v8 motor

disconnect the battery lead from the starter plus other wires,undo the bolts on the starter flange & the starter should pull straight out providing there is nothing else in the way if there is anything it will have to be removed first.......hope this helps......cheers

2003 5.3L 4x4 GMC Sierra has started being hard

Sounds like a Solenoid might be bad on the starter if it spins freely and a high rate of speed without engaging.

Also, the relay could be bad.

I am ot sure if the fuel filter and pressure regulator would cause this problem.

No code will show with a bad starter or bad relay, I don't believe.

Replace starter on 1992 GMC Sierra pickup truck

First thing unhook positive battery cable, unhook main cable on starter selanoid and small wire on selanoid (there may be 2 small wires) There may be a bracket on front of starter that has to be removed, and then the 2 main bolts that hold it to engine block and it should come out.

Truck won't start. It won't even turn over

ing. switch or relay. does truck have aftermarket remote starter if so look for loose conn.
