If the smart key battery gets low to where it won't start the car you can hold the smart key with the logo facing the start button close to the button then push it to start the engine.

2008 Highlander Maint Req'd reset proceedure

This is the reset proceedure for a 2008 Highlander with a key-type ignition:

Turn the key ON, do not start the engine.

Look at the odometer, and verify that it displays "TRIP A". If it is on "ODO" or "Trip B", press the black stick next to the odometer to read "TRIP A".

Turn the key OFF.

Press in, and HOLD the black trip meter reset button, hold it IN.
DO not release it.

Turn the key ON, do not start the engine

Observe the Odometer display. You will see 5 dashes, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1 dash, and finally, 5 zeros. Then, whatever number that was displayed on "TRIP A" will be re-displayed..

Now release the black trip meter reset stick.

This completes the reset procedure, and it will be back on in 5,000 miles, to remind you of you next oil change.

Purchased a keyless entry car without a key

Let me get this right, you purchased a car without a key for said vehicle to start the vehicle? First off I would worry if the vehicle is stolen or not. If the vehicle is not stolen, then you will have to take the VIN to a dealer and have a key cut and program the key to your car. This will cost you an arm and a leg for a $10 key. It is best to have a spare key in case of lose of the original, so be prepared to lose both your arms and legs.

Where is my Toyota Highlander 2008 fuel filter located?

This model does not have an external fuel filter, there is a permanent fuel filter inside the gas tank that is not serviceable unless you want to remove the gas tank.

Hi, I have 2008 Highlander with a dead (battery deleted) smart key. How do I replace the battery, Thanks aussie

Okay first of all do you have an eyeglass repair kit the on with a small tiny screw driver or tiny eyeglass kit that has a phillips type.look at the key and you will see a little slot to put the tiny scre driver in pop that out and the battery will be exposed.unscrew it and change battery. Wait a minute walmart when you buty the battery will replace it for free but you have to purchase the battery. Its at the jewelry area.

2008 Toyota Avalon Battery Problem

I doubt this is a smart key problem, the key uses a chip and its own battery. Something in the car is causing a drain, a light is staying on possibly. Trunk light, glove box light, under hood light... maybe you have a portable GPS unit plugging into the auxilary port? Just a thought. This is not a common problem that has been reported by Avalon owners as of yet.
