Same thing my accord shuts down but it seems to happen more during warm / hot wheather.

My uncles1998 Honda Accord EX seems to shut down while driving. Loses all electric power, heater fan, radio, everything turns off. After a while the car will start and everything is back to normal. Happens quite often. My first guess at the problem is a bad ignition switch. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem with my 1999 Honda Accord. i am taking it to the dealership. We'' ll see what happens.

My car does the same thing. I called Honda directly and they advised it may be the ignition switch even though it was replaced in 2005.

Check out the other posts about this problem including the Civic. Hondas have a serious problem with the main relay. It does happen more when the car is hot. Good luck.

I found out that there is a recall on the ignition switch. The dealer replaced the switch at no cost. Problem solved.

1999 Honda Accord EX. I can't find my speedometer sensor on my Accord?

Look behind the engine, almost directly under the engine air intake unit, to locate the vehicle speed sensor. Locate the sensor's 12 mm hex bolt. The bolt is slightly further back and towards the driver's side of the car, relative to the vehicle speed sensor connector.Jan 9, 2023

1995 accord timing belt schedule

If the timing belt has been replaced recently, a mechanic can inspect it taking the cover off, and tell you, that won't cost big money.

If it has been replaced 50K miles ago it wont be possible to know.

If the car has 114K miles, I suggest taking it to a mechanic and replacing the timing belt.

I have one Honda Accord 1999. One time, when I was driving, brake and steering wheel locked; oil light, battery light and brake light were on. What's happened to my car?

I have '99 accord LX 4cyl sedan and the ignition switch is a problem for these cars. I replaced my ignition 2 or 3 years ago because it would randomly shut off and sometimes not start back up right away. It only got worse until I fixed it, it would die on the highway or freeway sometimes. Haven't had that problem since. i think it cost like $240 or so. Also if you have an automatic, be careful, they are notoriously bad for going out after 100k miles. mine did and its an expensive fix. good luck.

1999 Honda Accord randomly shuts down while driving

The ignitor in the distributor needs changed. This little guy can cause massive headaches. They work intermittently, but once warm, they knock the ignition spark off.

Hope this helps, vote if you think so thanks.

1999 HONDA ACCORD LX IS TURNNING OFF WHILE I DRIVE

when this stall happens notice if the speedometer drops to "0" while the vehicle is in motion, if some warning lights aren't lit (chk engine, ABS, brake etc.) when key is set to "On"!! If these issues happen when the vehicle "shuts off while driving" it may be caused by "ignition switch failure". Your vehicle may be part of a 2002 Honda/Acura recall. Symtoms include: intermitted power loss, intermitted engine shut off, some warning lights not lit, random hard starts. This happens more often in warmer/hot weather. Call your local dealer and provide them with your VIN# to check if your vehicle is still covered, they may fix it for free. Otherwise the part is about $48-$100!!
