The door lock actuator is stuck in the lock position you will need to slim jim it open meaning you will have to lose the door lock actuator on the driver sideor replace the door lock lock actuator

If sliding door is electric, that's where I would start, check the electrical circuits for voltage and ground. If that checks out, the issue may be mechanical?
Your owners manual should give you some operational info for the sliding door.
on the sliding doors, next to the latch when the door is open, there will be a tiny switch that you have to flip. It may also be a hole in the door with a symbol that you have to slide your key into to engage or disengage it
This could be hard to diagnose for someone that doesn't know about electronically controlled automotive systems . There are two electronic control modules involved ! (FEM) front electronic control module and the (REM) rear electronic control module . The first step would be to hook up a scan tool to look at input data to the control modules. Corrupt signals to the module ! B+ power an ground circuits problems . The wiring inside the harness from the body to driver door , opening an closing of the door breaks the wires over time . you need to take the door apart.maybe something jamming it.
if not it is a new regulator is why they said call the junkyard because they are very expensive
On the 2000 Windstar that I was working on, the casing for the door lock actuators had split and the lock knob on the top of the door would twitch when I hit the button, but would not lock or unlock fully. I replaced the door lock actuators (in stock at my local dealership) and cleared up the problem. Also check the bushings that link the rods inside the doors. They are plastic and occasionally wear out
