No, a knock sensor will not keep an engine from cranking over. Have you checked the starter? Make sure that the starter solenoid is getting a signal when you turn the key to the start position.

Where is the knock sensor located on a 2000 avalon slx?

Its inside the top end of the motor. There are knock sensor inside the motor. You have to take off the manifold and top half/plate of the motor. Garage charged me 500 bucks to replace a bad sensor. The sensors run 240 bucks.

How To Replace knock Sensor Toyota Avalon 1998

There are 2 knock sensors for the V6, they are both located under the inlet manifold. You will need a competent mechanic to do this for you, it may be cheaper for you to supply the parts as most mechanics do a huge markup on parts. They use the excuse that they won't warranty the work if you don't buy it through them, kind of a ripoff but your the victim of that game. Find an honest mechanic, even a backyarder these days has more integrity than apprentice mechanics they use these days. Good luck.

Location knock sensors 2000 toyota avalon xls 3.0 location

they are located under the intake manifold in the center of the engine. One is towards the front and one is towards the rear. The intake plenum and intake manifold will need to be removed in order to service the knock sensors. More commonly the harness fails.

Toyota Avalon 2000

You need to pull off the entire intake manifold/plenum assembly. The knock sensor is bolted to the inside of the cylinder block, it is in the middle of the culinder block.
