SOURCE: 96 Volvo 850 Turbo. Both headlights went out but

Hi, the problem you are having is with the switch itself, this is a common problem so the switch is not expensive to buy.

once you replace the switch the lights will work as normal.

if it was just one light not working then you could say bulb if the high beam wasnt working then you could say it was fuse or relay but as you have high beam this would rule out them being the fault.

now the only other problem it could be is a wire so give the wires a bit of a wiggle at the back of the head lights then give them a try if they then work you may need to do some soldering to fix a loose wire but if they still dont work then this would suggest the switch itself is at fault.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Where are front struts in 96 volvo 850 glt

The Struts are inside the Strut Tube that bolts to the top of the inner fender well and runs down to the lower A-Arm that holds the front suspension. You can tell by the big spring wrapped around it.

Code po133 o2 sensor 96 volvo 850 wagon

Front oxygen sensor code. Check the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator and make sure it is ok before you replace the sensor. Any vacuum leak can also cause the code.

96 volvo 850 won't start and horn and turn signal chirp on and off

My wife ran into this problem one day when she came out of a store. Turns out the car alarm had been set off in her absence, and the alarm system had immobilized the car. The solution was to simply use the remote (rather than the key) to unlock the car. That cleared the immobilizer, and she started it up and drove off.

1996 Volvo 850 the seat belt won't release so I can't put on my seatbelt when driving. Is this expensive to fix.

The locking mechanism is plastic and usually brakes apart inside. It needs to be replaced. Because it is a 96 model, I would not trust used parts. Buy new from Volvo. They run in the $200 range for the part.

Hi i have a 96 volvo 850 lately while driving my rpms go up and then back down and feels like its going to shut off on me what could be the problem? fuel filter or vacuum leak?

both,, or even a bad fuel pump,, clean the filter , and check for vacuum leaks,, squirt a little wd40 or carb cleaner , a little at a time around the motor, if the RPM's jump up suddenly thats where you may have a vacuum leak , have the pump checked to see if its holding pressure

Where is the ecu on my 96 volvo 850 se

On the passenger side of the engine compartment, near the coolant bottle. It is housed inside that black box. It has three pieces, a top, middle and a base. It is held together with metal clips. Remove the top and middle section and you will need a "special tool" or a couple screwdrivers to release the ECM from the wiring harness that is part of the base.
