Dodge stratus misfire, runs rough has random misfires in cylinder 1,3,and 5 and a vacuum leak, I,m not too worried about the leak unless it is related to the misfire

Likely an improper air/fuel mixture. You need know the fuel trim values plus multiple inputs e.g. MAF, temp, fuel pressure, up/downstream O2s, etc. As it appears bank related, look for bank related vacuum leak, O2, or cat.

get the OBD codes read this will tell you which switch/sensor is causing the issue , the last random misfire i encountered turned out to be low cylinder compression so if the OBD code says " random misfire " then get the cylinder compressions read , hope this helps

misfires are more from faulty injectors / leaking injectors so check the codes as the misfire code will indicate the problem cylinder
exampl code p0300 is random misfires and codes p0301 through to p 0308 is the cylinder ie p 0303 is no 3 cylinder

Check Engine Light On, P0300 Random Misfire Code A random misfire means your engine is misfiring, but that the problem is not isolated to one or two cylinders. It is jumping around in a random way from one cylinder to another. A random misfire code usually means the air/fuel mixture is running lean. But the cause might be anything from a hard-to-find vacuum leak to dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, a weak ignition coil, bad plug wires, or compression problems. Even a dirty MAF sensor can cause a lean code and/or misfire to occur. The engine may be stalling because it isn't getting enough throttle opening. The cause is often a problem in the idle air control system. The first thing to check is the intake vacuum with a vacuum gauge. On most vehicles a normal reading is 17 to 21 inches Hg. If the needle is lower, is jumping up and down or steadily dropping, you have a vacuum problem. Look for possible vacuum leaks by checking vacuum hose connections, the throttle body and manifold, and PVC valve and plumbing. An EGR valve that is leaking can also act like a vacuum leak and cause a random misfire. The next thing you should check is the fuel pressure with a gauge. If it is not within specifications (refer to a service manual for specifics because fuel pressure is critical for proper engine performance), the problem may be a weak fuel pump, low voltage to the pump (check the relay and wiring), or obstructions in the fuel line (like a plugged filter). A bad fuel pressure relay can also leak pressure and prevent an otherwise good fuel pump from delivering full pressure to the injectors. Dirty injectors can also restrict fuel delivery and cause a lean fuel condition. Many regular grades of gasoline do not contain adequate levels of detergent to keep the injectors clean. Frequent short trip driving accelerates the buildup of injector deposits. Cleaning the injectors with a good quality fuel tank additive (or having them professionally cleaned) can solve this problem. Look at short term fuel trim (STFT) and long term fuel trim (LTFT) with your AutoTap Express DIY. If the numbers are high, it tells you the engine is running lean

Is it worse when it's damp outside? Many times it's as simple as a good healthy tune up. Distributor cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Use champion plugs(these are o.e. on nearly all chrysler products, and work best) and chrysler actually has quire good prices on the rest. You didn't mention engine size, so you may or may not have all of these components. This is not the only possible cause, but it's the most common, and easy to check without special diagnostic equipment. just get a spray bottle, and lightly mist the ignition system components with ordinary tap water), and see if it begins to run ragged, or if there are any sparks. P0300 random misfire, slight rough idle good , by the way your repair is good you dont want a identified misfire, Lets start by what it is not. Not a misposition sparkplug wire you would of gotten that cylinder code, as misfire, Oh try this got carburator cleaner? spray safely along the intake gasket, How about inspecting the vacuum hoses especailly at the map sensor. Here the thing you got. a vacuun leak. on a 5.7 a vacuum leak causes random misfire, by definition P0300 means 2 cylinders or more. By experience its a vacuum leak

First step is to check the plugs; hearing a lot online about this being a fuel injector problem. You can try injector cleaner, check the plugs and wires (clear the code) and see if this clears your problem.
If not, it's likely fuel injector(s) is bad.

OBD II 300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

When the misfire monitor detects a misfire, it will trigger the check engine light with the specific cylinder number as the last digit in the P030X code. For instance cylinder 1 misfire is P0301, cylinder 2 is P0302 etc. In this case we have either multiple cylinders misfiring, or the computer simply can't determine the specific cylinder, and as such we are left with the P0300 in computer memory.
