Use a 12 volt test light or voltmeter to check for power at the start terminal of the solenoid when the key is turned to start. If there is no power, verify that the starter works by jumping the starter as shown in the post below. If the starter will jump, the problem is the wire from the starter relay (which is what you may hear clicking) to the solenoid. If there is power at the solenoid when the ignition is turned to start and the starter will not jump, the problem is the starter/solenoid. Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6222268-engine_doesnt_crank_turn_over . These are genericinstructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

98 Ford Windstar suddenly won't start and no electric inside -- battery is fully charged.

start by following your negative wire off of the battery it should go to metal on the engine or to the frame (a fender bolt is ok) try putting your negative jumper cable from battery to any metal on engine. turn on headlights wiggle cable to make sure you have good connection, see if head lamps come on. If lights come on replace ground cable from battery. if not remove jumper cable and start looking at positive cable.check it for a good connection to battery and also to cable . if connections are good there follow the positive cable down to the starter solonide.you should check your battery voltage at this connection. If its good and the connection is good but you still have no power replace starter solonid.. I suspect the positive cable going to the starter will be bad or the connection will be bad.

Mk4 gti vr6 has power but doesn't start, runs with pop start

Could be a number of things but may want to begin by checking wiring to starter, battery, or even the ignition switch. These components may not turn your engine light on.

98 Chevy blazer won't start up but will crank ,,

Try giving it a shot of starting fluid. You don't say if it's actually firing. If it tries or runs for a few seconds off of the starting fluid then try changing the fuel pump relay. It's inside of the glove box on the left hand side behind the little door. If that doesn't work it's most likely the fuel pump.

95 buick regal two fans in front , one make clicking noise after vehicle turned off. Its continues to spin and makes a clicking noise after turning off engine

It is normal for the fan to stay on after the engine is off. The clicking is not. Once the negine is cooled down and the fan is not running. check the fan by spinning it and try to locate the clicking noise. Make sure the fan doesn't wobble. If it does then the bearings are going out, replace the fan. The clicking could be something lodged in the shroud, clicking against the fan blade. Like a stick.

When my truck gets hot it doesn't want to start. Sometimes if you wiggle the key it will start, but when it doesn't start, it makes a clicking noise.

the clicking noise is most likely coming from the solenoid on the starter motor, the solenoid is like a big switch with contacts inside of it,when you turn the key to start the engine these contacts come together to transfer the power to the starter motor,if the solenoid can't be taken apart & the contacts cleaned or replaced it will have to be replaced.......hope this helps....cheers

Programming instructions for keyless remote Does anyone have the programming instructions for 1998 honda passport keyless remote (FCC #HYQ1512R)?

Get into your passport and unlock all doors. Leave drivers door open. Put key into ignition. Turn to ON (not start), then OFF three times within 5 seconds. Close and open the drivers door twice. Turn key to ON then OFF 5 times within 5 seconds. Close then open the drivers door. Press either the lock or unlock button on the remote. Doors will lock then unlock. Press the button again. Doors will lock then unlock again. Close door to finish programming. If it doesnt work, try it again but turn the key faster. You have to do it all pretty quick, but I had it done on the second try.

1996 Honda Passport

Sounds like the rear trailing arm bushes, they are very common in the hondas, im not sure what a honda passport is, we dont get them here in new zealand, but most hondas have them fail quite often and make the noise you are decribing. check them out and see how you go.
